I think part of the reason they didn’t go for a ‘bigger name’ manager in the summer is that Carrick would put up with not being backed in the transfer market, someone like Conte for instance wouldn’t

I also think they are a club with no plan and more importantly …. No identity

There was definitely a lot of ‘if we’d sacked Frank earlier we could have got Carrick’ if memory serves.

I really feel for Carrick. I can’t ever remember bearing witness to a more rotten, out of touch, selfish, disgrace of a dressing room. Things got tough and experienced players decided to throw in the towel. Criticising the directors, criticising the tactics.

And Bruno, has to be a contender for worst captain I’ve ever seen too. Sitting there with a face like thunder today, after his embarrassment of an interview. Carrick did the right thing by dropping him, and making the point that before the game the players should have more pride to play for United. It’s beyond tactics or coaching with them, it’s a disgrace of a dressing room. We should have beaten them 5-0.

Carrick did all the right things today in terms selection but knows the game is up. Shame, it would have been nice for them to get a result without Bruno to embarrass him further, but they simply haven’t been good with him or without him.

Worst culture I have ever seen. Even ours last season seemed to be genuinely confidence, but with good guys who cared about their teammates. I have no idea what this is at United, but it’s bad.

I did think about him, although he went to town about our ownership when he was still in charge here. I doubt he'd knowingly go into a similar situation at Utd. Maybe the money might persuade him, he's set for life already though so why take the stress?
