The Official 2019/20 Premier League Thread

True but throughout the ages you'd only raise the flag when it was blatantly offside. No lino would have ever had the balls to flag there (unless it was sunday league game with subs running the lines lol)

Agree, but the whole point of VAR though is to get the decisions right. You cant have VAR only making a decision when its clearly offside, because you can't define 'clearly'

As Neville just said, the VAR mistake tonight was not sending Maguire off

Agreed
Their being consistent with their application of the tech even though we know it’s wrong
How is Maguire On still though ... poor var

Well, ya don't ask, ya don't get.

Chelsea lost, ligaments and such were jiggered. Might even see Maguire up for supplementary review and discipline. We can but hope.

And De Gea's sore shoulder. Hope it's nothing trivial.

Var only hghlights the incompetence of the referees. In the past they had the excuse of the game being fast and it's impossible to see everything. There are no excuses anymore now.

I didn't think Giroud was offside seeing it live.

But maybe the PL is thinking, in the wake of City's troubles: One down, one to go.

2 simple changes that could revolutionise VAR

1. Mike up Refs and VAR officials
2. Use a trained dedicated VAR team who are not Refs and use the same ones for all the games that way you will have consistent decisions
