There is a staff of at least 100+ people that will know the team. Its strange its not happening at every club tbh.

Worked at Spurs, Palace, Fulham and Brentford for the PL during Covid and from what I could tell staff respected their jobs too much to run and tell people stuff, there is zero upside for many to do it.

I was at Palace the day they signed Will Hughes and only 3 people in total knew in the whole club (4 including me because I had to sign him into the Red Zone for Covid). So as much as someone may well be leaking at Spurs, which in fairness it seems is the case, I really don't think people either know enough, I don't think line ups are common knowledge in the wider staff OR are not running about to tell people.

Most of this stuff is coming from agents, family and intermediaries

People have far too much to lose in careers they love

I agree there is zero upside and people have too much to lose but you can say that about a lot of things.

New signings would be different to the lineup though. In training they will have been doing team shape since the start of the week. You’ve got countless staff members who would witness that before you even get in to the coaches, data guys, physios etc

Absolutely, but its most def the exception and not the rule from what I have seen

Line ups are massively fluid to fairly late and in my short experience are privvy to few who know. Shape training nearly never reveals a line up, players interchange from team to team for that, so near impossible to know for sure.

Will have to agree to disagree on the last part. Although I dont think the lineup gives you that much of an insight outside a major suprise addition.
