And who would you have dropped to accomodate him, considering he can only play well in the right inside forward position of a 4-3-3? VDV and Lennon would have to go for a start, Bale would have to be moved to left back. Do you think GDS is THAT good that we should re-arrange our entire side for him? Get real.

Lennon was out for GHod knows how many weeks/months. Yet we CONTINUED to play VDV or Kranjcar out of position on the right. Play GDS there for goodness sake.

A start could be to have him (or Taarabt for that matter) on the bench in stead of the many times we've had two centre backs there.
2-3 seasons coming off the bench towards the end should have established him as a Premier League player.
Essentially, we should have had a plan for him and how to turn him into a PL player,
not a fan of our sink or swim philosophy.

VDV and Kranky aren't natural right sided midfielders. But in two banks of four they're a better option than GDS in that role.

Primary position. E.g. Kaboul in the team? Right back replacement is in your first XI so you need an EXTRA centre half on the bench to compensate (ideally you'd have a full back on the bench, but once Corluka was gone that was that).

As for GDS? On a broader scale I always believe people have the cart before the horse. If a player is new to a club, it's up to the PLAYER (not the Manager, the club etc) to get the most out of himself. This isn't Sunday morning football where you give people a chance because they're your mate or for the sake of it. People at this level have to earn the right to get a chance.

Any Manager who picks players to appease them, or to appease the fans is a fudging macaron and someone I wouldn't want anywhere near my club.

I haven't read the threadsince my last post in it, I don't know the score, gotta say fudge me, I never thought I'd see the day that a Tottenham player Captains Brazil!

fantastic goal to win by

but oh lord, some of the goalkeeping and defending.............

although his 3rd was the most spectacular

his second was all the more impressive for his awareness of the back tracking Brazilian, instead of the safe option of rolling it in, where it could be cut out

he dinks it in, as if there was a hastily sliding defender coming across him.

Argentina - Brazil game seems like a cracker. 4-3 now, Messi with a hatrick.

What a stupid timing to have that match. Any Brazil-Argentina friendly match will always get the world's attention but not when a big tournament like Euro is going on. I don't think any TV stations covered that match.

I watched parts of it on ESPN

I thought you didn't care about South American football, Mick? ;)

There's a bit of a difference between not giving a flying fart whether Le??n de Huanuco of Peru get relegated or not, and watching a 4-3 win between Argentina and Brazil, particularly when it has the worlds best footballwer scoring a cracking hat-trick

wouldn't you agree?
