Sunderland are coming up fast as well.....

O Neill really gets players wanting to play for him; you'll go a long way to find somebody better than him in that respect. Interesting that we play Toon the same day Sunderland entertain the Arse.

Looks like democracy has done nothing to calm troubles in Egypt. Welcome to the Middle East region for the next 10-15 years.

A good quote from Twitter: "Football is not the cause of this, just the face." Apparently it's to do with one set of fans having a role in the take down of Mubarak and the other set of fans being supporters of Mubarak.

No matter what the reason, this should simply not happen.

Europe went through centuries of wars, civil strife, failed states, dictators, humans rights abuses and all other kinds of crap before emerging as the democracies they are now. Spain only joined this group a few decades ago. Let's give the Arabs some time shall we? SCAF are not a democratic organisation, the Egyptians are fighting against powerful forces.

For once we agree. Rivers of blood have flown in Europe to achieve the condition we have now.

This isn't the "arab spring". This is the arab descent into the dark age and only later on will they rise into the transition, which Europe knew as renaissance.

The Arabs have already had their renaissance, they were a powerful, scientific, artistic civilisation for a long time. Unfortunately for them, they somehow slipped back rather than moved forward after this time and find themselves in the state they are now. Not sure why, maybe their inability to keep up militarily with Europe and the Ottomans.

Democratisation will work differently and at different paces all over the place. I hope and think it won't take the Arabs and especially Egyptians hundreds of years to get there! But we need to give them time and not keep on branding their efforts a failure, as people have already started doing. We seem to expect all states like this to emerge as perfect democracies within a few months/years. Let us give them then same timeframe we had ourselves.

And Danish mate, you do realise that you took the VDV comment in the OMT in completely the wrong way?

I'm not talking about renaissance as for science, I am talking about it as for separating religion from rule purely from a philosofical point of view.

You may argue the opposite, but elections in Egypt for a fact proves me right.

With the Muslim Brotherhood at the wheel things will get worse (more despotic) before they get to get better again (more freedom).

And yes, it will take time. Decades, perhaps. And countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran and other major players haven't even gotten to the beginning of that proces yet.

That double turnover from despots to religious loonie and then to rule of the peolpe will globally be the one single most destabilizing factor at all over the coming years.

All matches of the penultimate round has been moved to Sunday 6 May to avoid a clash with the FA Cup final on the Saturday.

Next season will kick off on the weekend of 18 August.

Mr. Down gave a free kick to Blackburn and booked Ryan Taylor for calling Hoilett a cheating cvnt.

in very clear circumstances like this, upon reviewing video evidence, players should be given 3 match bans for being cheating cnuts. its bad enough that most referees are macarons, it doesn't help when players actively try and deceive them. if the fa is serious about this, they really should start banning players. i remember being quite embarrassed when zokora did it some years back. we can definitely live without this brick..

Not expecting much from Fulham, hopefully Blackburn can turn up. Chelsea-United should be a cracker, but the highlight of this round is obviously on Monday.

I feel quite ill looking at the lottery winners' immaculate home record on that table, especially considering what a terrible atmosphere their miserable, whining, chippy "fans" generate at the Council House.

Man Utd were poor away from home last season, but won the PL again because they dropped 2 points at home in their 19 games.

Will be cheering on Fulham as if they were Spurs.\o/

Spurs currently have the 2nd best home record and the 2nd best away record in the PL, but lie 3rd!
