ended up meeting at Oxford Circus. I knew the bar at The Courthouse Hotel used to be the jail of the old courthouse there (their restaurant, which is lovely was the courtroom, complete with wood panelling.

So we went to the bar and got a ****tail each and sat in one of the jail cells. You basically sit on what was the prisoner's bed and it's got all the original features including a (non-functioning) toilet. Two ****tails came to about ?ú21.

She's a gooner and she asked if I knew what was happening with the football so we bounced to the O'Neills across the road to watch the second half of their defeat to sunderland )

Then we went to Camden, first choice was Bar 55 but when I saw how stupidly busy it was decided to go to the spoons while we think about what to do next. Probably should have moved somewhere more interesting but she seemed to like the atmosphere.. it had music and they'd cleared a dancefloor.

Kinda wish I'd stayed round Soho and explored the pubs/bars round there than go Camden.

Mentioned loads of things happening at the Prince Charles Cinema (she likes her films) so hopefully she'll come up for those.

Love the Prince Charles Cinema, someone mentioned it on here a while back and I checked it out, been a few times since and going tonight for a Clerks double bill.

Good work, take her to Shaka Zulu if you end up in Camden again.

Not heard of the Prince Charles Cinema but will investigate.

This is easily one of my favourite threads, found loads of useful info on here.

I watched Clerks the other night... 10 years on it seems a lot slower and a bit boring now that I watch it without a room full of mates, pizza and spliff!

where should i watch the game on sunday around kings cross, and if it sells food all the better!

You could try Rocket on Euston Rd, does decent food and has it in 3D. If you get there early enough you can get a nice armchair to sit in as well. Usually has a a few people watching each game and a little bit of atmosphere

Used to love the Rocket, been back a few times since the refurb/redecoration and it's lost a bit of it's charms. Wouldn't say it does 'decent food' I'd say it's basic chain pub grub, but you get what you pay for.

Got a projector screens and enough tellies. I'd either go there or to O'Neills across the road, probably the Rocket though.

If anyone lives near the Streatham area you have to get some sunday lunch here

Used to be a crappy boozer but now its gone all gastro pubby

Two courses for ?ú18 and I can't think of a better roast dinner I've ever had, you could tear the beef apart without even touching your knife

The Castle. About a 5 minute walk up Pentonville Road. It's a lovely little pub with an absolutely corking roof terrace when the weather's on. Decent grub and Sky Sports.

Got a feeling that's where I watched us beat Inter last year. They either weren't showing football in the main bar or were showing another game so we had to sit on the terrace upstairs and watch it.

Very nice pub but phone ahead just to make sure they're showing the game. Also it's a price bracket up from the Rocket and O'neills but their food is very good.

Anyone ever been Roadhouse in Covent Garden or Blues Kitchen in Camden (to eat rather than go to a gig or clubbing)

Mates are saying they're very good and to give it a go.

Also now the sun has come out where are you enjoying it?

The Roadhouse has been around for donkeys years and is tourist heaven. I haven't been there for about 10 years at least but it was always pretty brick to be honest! Think of TGI's but a bit dirty. Still, if they're still going they must be doing something right.

Got brothers wedding later this year, the wedding day itself is sorted but looking for something on the sunday. Any advice for decent Sunday pub lunch around Camden , highgate , east finchley area. Nothing too poncy as it's more for a meet up with family before we all head back where we have all come from.

i'd recommend the vine on highgate road, recently been done up, nice and spacious if there's a few of you and they do a cracking sunday lunch - http://www.thevinenw5.co.uk/

just up the road you've got the bull and last which recently won best sunday lunch in the observer food monthly awards but you will have to book well in advance as it gets a bit busy - http://www.thebullandlast.co.uk/

others of note include the st.johns tavern in archway - http://www.stjohnstavern.com/

the Stag near the royal free - http://www.thestaghampstead.com/

or

junction in kentish town - http://www.junctiontavern.co.uk/info.php

you're basically in gastro pub heaven so take your pick!

ended up in the roadie on a few work nights out when i was based on the strand, it's quite a good laugh but it is just a cheesy club full of tourists, which is fine if you're tinkled out of shape on a wednesday.

blues kitchen is decent, get the ribs

Cheers NW5, a couple of them came up on my google searches. The junction looks an interesting one, might pop in there next week to check it out before I head back to Oz. The Vine and Bull & Last were top of the lists on most sites but might check junction and St johns .

Few of you might remember I mentioned I moved to around Borough recently, got a load of mates coming over this weekend and want to head out to a few decent bars but from what I've seen it seems to be mostly pubs. Anyone know of any decent late night bars with good music and women in the area? Failing that any recommendations for further afield places like Elephant & Castle (I've heard there are decent places here but never been) or Soho?
