Apparently it takes a crew of 100 labourers 7 days to put the retractable seats in place which equates (at £20 per hour) to about £336k each time they need to change the layout!there will be retractable seats on the track
I think somebody failed his math classes. That's half a mile, you'd be inside the shopping mall or something.

Correct, even 840 feet wouldn't make sense as it would be roughly 2 and 2/3 football a pitch or the full length of USS Wasp, the largest Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) in the World.
Hmm... off-topic, but I thought the America and the Tripoli were both marginally larger?
More like 84metres surely?
Ok I stand corrected. Only marginally, it's like 10 - 30 feet in length and 4,000 tonnes, which equates to roughly 160,000 25kg Bags of sand.
Oh, definitely, it's only a marginal difference, and they're both much larger than any other LHD/LPDs out there at the moment: I think the Ocean only tops out at half that total displacement fully loaded, for example. So, it isn't wise to be too nit-picky.
Anyway, hrhrmm, back on topic, Olympic Stadium. Bit of a shambles, by all accounts.
