I think some of it is connected to the level of availability we have to footage of these players.

Years ago there would be fewer live games, no Internet footage and so we'd watch players with high reputations intensely in games. We would want to see what skills they had and the rarity of these games made their talents a lot more exciting.

Now we almost get drowned in footage and so it takes a lot more to impress us.

Big fan of both but:

Ronaldinho > Ronaldo

They have some great talents as you say but a lot of vastly overrated players too. For me I wonder just how good Neymar is. He seems to me just another Robinho, all tricks with no real substance. The fact that big Phil is now picking Fabiano and Fred shows how restricted the options now are. Once you had Romario, Bebeto, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, then Ronaldinho and even then players like Amoroso and Jardel.

best moment was his overhead bicycle kick from outside the area, in the last minute against Valencia, to complete his hattrick and help Barca win the game 3-2 and qualify for the CL. You could call it an important goal I guess, and what a goal

I wish in 98 we had the chance to see more of the Ro-Ro partnership, Romario and Ronaldo. They scored a hatrick each in a confederations cup game v Australia I recall. Romario got injured just before the World cup.
