The Goon Thread

Have seen reports that the sum are starting negotiations with Sporting Lisbon for Gyokeres....if true, how much of a gamechanger could that be for them? Should we be worried that they are finally getting their striker situation sorted?

No, as they will find a way to blow whatever chances they have like they always do

There was talk early on this season that they already had an agreement for Nico Williams to come at the end of this season. That had me worried as he is a massive upgrade on Martinelli and Trossard. That seems to have gone quiet now though. Fingers crossed they struggle to shift some players so can't have a splurge

It's all a balance.

One of the reasons they're able to create as they do and keep the ball as they do is the extra non-striker in the team. They can't have both.

Exactly, they added RICE for over 100m and we were told its a game changer and year 2 they have arguably got worse.

As you say they have made sacrifices and they have got the balance wrong on both ends over time. The other thing is their dependable are starting to flag. Saliba has looked shocking recently and we learnt more than anyone, you miss your window to win things, people lose heart and form becomes a massive player.

The other thing in the changing room that happens given enough time and enough failures is your belief in the manager just starts to dissipate.
He's the one that gives you the belief, but when that belief never gives you anything, it starts to not add up.
Arteta has done extremely well to keep their attention, especially, as from the outside, he is a proper knob. But maybe that's me as an older guy just seeing thru his D. Brent 101 people.management nonsense.

Exactly, hard for someone to command that for so long. 5 years not without a trophy with that investment is the other end of failure to us, but its failure and questions will rightly circulate
