The Goon Thread

Sczxxzney needs to keep his mouth shut is the obvious conclusion to most things involving him.

as shambolic as chelsea are they'll surely get their act together enough to see off arsenal and the scousers for 4th.

pinched from another forum but funny all the same

And I never thought i'd see Arsenal play a game of football on a golf course, the sides of the pitch were like thick rough with the middle a fairway riddled with divots, players were slipping everywhere. Milan managed ok yeah but I honestly think that the game should have been called off with the pitch in that state, disgrace

has a point i guess

Oh What a beautiful morning
Oh what a beautiful day
Goons went to Milan 4-NOTHING
Cheers, Kevin Prince Boateng

Wenger - Top three place still achievable

Ars?¿ne Wenger says that claiming a place in the top three remains possible this season - but he admits it will take a major effort to do so.

Arsenal are currently 10 points behind third-placed Tottenham, but face their North London rivals at Emirates Stadium on February 26.

Wenger will not throw in the towel when it comes to chasing them down, but he concedes that the GunnersÔÇÖ continued involvement in the Champions League could count against them.

"Mathematically [they are] not uncatchable but the disadvantage is that Tottenham play nowhere,ÔÇØ he said.

ÔÇ£They are out of the Europa League, they just play the FA Cup and championship and have much more rest than the other teams.

"We have two vital games and then we play Tottenham at home. After that game then we will know more.ÔÇØ

When will this idiot shut up? More fuel!

Gooners make me sick.

Even my gooner "mates" are starting to talk gonads after tonight. "Where are you in the CL"....blah blah blah.

"Milan couldn't score a goal against us in 180 minutes"

"Yeah but..........."

"No but, clam, your season is over before a pancake has been flipped"

Silence.

Absolute clams. Make me sick

It's obvious wenger wants out of the comp, they can't win it and to stay in the CL places this year will prove almightily tough, getting extra days off would be priority.

The ONLY reason the scum are 4th is becoz chelscum are going into reverse and internal meltdown, whereas piddle pool are just bad, very average and suarez is very bad young man indeed.

An Embarrassing Reminder For Arsenal...

Everyone knows that Arsenal aren't as good as they used to be, but nights like this are a stark reminder of exactly how far they've fallen. Nick Miller shakes his head...

The old gags about Zlatan Ibrahimovic being a big game bottler were not relevant on Wednesday evening. It was a Champions League last 16 game in name, but it was a kick-about for AC Milan.

Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Kevin Prince Boateng and Antonio Nocerino sliced through Arsenal with such embarrassing ease, that in the first half at least it was like watching a collection of individuals only recently acquainted with the sport.

The timidity and uncertainty with which Arsenal defended made Milan's job humiliatingly easy. And the thing is, this AC Milan side are good, but not that good. A side with a little more gumption would have beaten them. Hell, a side with a slightly less-than-shambling defence would have at least made them run before scoring, instead of sauntering.

When Don Bradman was watching the great West Indies side of the 80s give Australia a good hiding, he was asked how many runs he thought he would score against them. He replied he'd probably average 60 or 70, and when someone pointed out that, as his Test average was 99.94, that wasn't a lot for him, he said: "Yes. But I am 80 years old now."

That quote sprang to mind as Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny rather sportingly waved Zlatan and Robinho through to pop another goal in the net. The fabled Arsenal defence of old are all in their forties now, but one suspects they would've put up more resistance than the four that started in Milan.

The troubling thing for Arsenal is, this is probably their first-choice back four. Sure, Kieran Gibbs and Bacary Sagna are coming back from injury, but that isn't an excuse for their shambolic showing. They looked punch drunk, moving with the speed and awareness of the groggy.

And let's not get started on what was ahead of the defence. We've said on F365 before that, the real difference between today's Arsenal and the one of six or seven years ago is pace. Then, they could counter-attack with devastating speed, moving the ball from one end of the pitch to the other in seconds. The goal in the recent defeat to Manchester United was a flickering glimpse of a reminder that they can still occasionally do it, but their passing is more careful these days, and much, much slower.

It's a constant reminder of how Arsene Wenger, for whatever reason, has allowed his side to fall behind the rest. Cut-price options, sub-standard or over-pressured youngsters and stop-gaps make up much of the Arsenal side these days. Wenger may go on about spirit and quality, but it just is not good enough.

Arsenal set themselves a potentially very costly precedent in August when they offered the fans who travelled to Old Trafford a free ticket to another away game, in recompense for watching their team get shellacked 8-2. On that basis, there might be a few travelling Gooners on the phone this week., but they might be best advised to enjoy their Champions League away trip, because it might be the last one they have for a while.

Everyone knows that Arsenal aren't as good as they used to be, but nights like this are a stark reminder of exactly how far they've fallen.

#-o#-o#-o Is he saying that they don't usually put a major effort into games then?
