The Goon Thread

What a total macaron. Arsenal have more players over 21 at loan at their club than anyone else in the league (Henry + Benayoun), as well as getting first team football for Bendtner. Maybe instead of proposing hypocritical rules the crazy old bat should focus on his own team's woefulness.

He's lost alot of the fans over the last few years, but a whole lot more this season alone. The dressing room is beginning to rumble with (not so) distant voices of un-rest.....players questioning his choices, and he stating that he doesnt need to justify a thing to anyone.

Next, the Away Boyz will do a song, dissing him. And then he will know its over. You dont mess with their Ultras.

The possession play of Barcelona now is on a different level to that of the Rijkaard team. Obviously their possession play was hardly poor before but not as impressive, certainly not against the bigger teams. Their defensive work and pressing is much better as well. He's made big decisions; moving on Eto'o, Deco and Ronaldinho were risky but justified moves.

at least it happened before the end of the transfer window so Wenger can go out and sign someone to cover the obvious hole in the squad...

They signed Benayoun in the summer window to cover that hole. Besides, Wenger doesn't approve of loans...

whats the difference in playing styles for barca now comapred to when they had rijkaard in charge of players like too, ronaldinho, deco, xavi, iniesta?

I have to agree with GGyid, it has no relevance. What Guardiola has brought tactically, which was what your original question concerned, is an incredible detail which manifests itself in not only game-to-game and in-game tactical tweaks, but in the evolution of the squad to keep things fresh as well. In 2009 They had Eto'o through the middle, Henry left, Messi right in a fairly standard 4-3-3 with inverted wingers. The next year Ibrahimovic came in and Messi started to play through the centre as a false nine. Last season Messi was a permenant fixture in the centre and Barca used a back three often including a midfielder allowing Alves to be unleashed down the right. Now we have seen the introduction of Fabregasto the squad has allowed the tweaking of the team to include a ridiculous amount of ballplayers, as we saw against Santos in the CWC Final, with Fabregas and Messi forming some sort of bizarre fluid front 2, along with a variety of past tactics. He has kept things fresh and built up a strong collection of systems that the squad are comfortable with.

Although I do think there is a lot to say for his impact on their playing style. You can only play like that and win through utter dominance and commitment. That comes from training and tactical knowledge, striking the perfect balance to get the best out of the players, and that perfect balance is very hard to find especially for such an extended period. The fact that so many players have come in and out is testament to the ability of Guardiola's ability to impose his tactics regardless of his personnel at Barca.

I fvcking hate Jack Wheelchair and I hope he and Arsenal spiral into Francis Jeffers-esque insignificance. Hopefully they struggle for a few years first so we can get a few doubles over them in the empty Emirates and the glorious, packed out new WHL with a terrace. And I mean 7-0 maulings.

'Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested a ban on loans of players over the age of 21 as a solution to the current debate regarding the market.'

What? was this even being debated?

Followed by the classic...

'In an attempt to avoid contradicting himself, Wenger has also defended his decision to sign Benayoun.

He said: "It's true that I haven't done that often. But we were on the last day of the transfer window. We knew that Jack Wheelchair would need surgery.

"So we were short in midfield at that point and to find two players so late was nearly impossible for us without using a loan.

"At that time, the most important thing was just to sign him"'

So over 21 loans should be banned except when they are useful for Wenger?... erm..

Absolute genius!!!!

Of course, what someone should tell this sanctimonious hypocrite, is that it might be a great idea if Premiership clubs were not allowed to *struggle cuddle* African nations of their finest young talent, place them with feeder clubs they 'support' in Belgium and then, if the player is worth it, take them to the UK with work-permit already in place whilst fudging off the countless rejected to deal with their broken lives. He really is a piece of fudging work, so pure, so wonderful...gonads!!! He's a clam!!!!!!!!!

Tremendous Wenger interview, did not make any sense as usual

Over the last 15 years we have the best FA record by far (Just not the last 7 though)

No other team each year goes for 4 trophies like we do, er !!!!!
