The glorious march to CL qualification

Winning 6-1 the following season was the perfect answer for me.

That was a brilliant game to go too

Was a bizarre moment on the way in

We were queuing up and 2 little oiks ran up to the biggest spurs fan they would find and tried to punch him. They bounced off him pretty much but then the police chased them... it was like a benny hill sketch as they ran in and out of the crowd

Genuine question and not a dig, but why do we keep posting these points based tables?? What do they offer over a regular table that i'm missing?

If it's to try and showcase the real distance between the teams, then it seems frugal given 3pts moves you drastically up rather than moving just one position.
If it's to make us feel good about how far we are visually away from Chelsea and Arsenal right now, then that's a very naive thing to do.
I'm sure we're all educated enough to understand the points difference between teams without the need to spell it out in relative distances? (Then again...:D)

Like i said, not a dig, just wondered what i'm missing with this layout.

Emirates Marketing Project's win over Liverpool have actually put pressure on us now, knowing we still have a chance to win the league. It will be must win matches when we play Liverpool and Emirates Marketing Project away. In fact, all our remaining matches this season will be must win matches from now on.

When you post the full table, it tends to show "groupings" i.e. is it really a top 6, best of rest, relegation candidates, etc.

I actually think the clearest indication of performance is GD, and if you look at that

38+ GD = Pool & City
20+ GD = Spurs & Chelsea
10+ GD = Scum & United
2 -> -3 = Leicester, Watford, Wolves, West Ham, Everton
below -10 = Bournemouth, BHA, Palace
everyone else worse than -10 GD

You can translate that to

- Title contenders
- Likely CL qualifiers
- Likely Europa qualifiers
- mid table
- Likely safe
- Relegation candidates

I think its just illustrative of the actual "gap" rather than difference in position.

I like it.

But that's my point, the "gap" isn't relative as a win lifts you more than one place in that table.

So you're saying you get more reassurance from seeing us like this:
48 TOT
47
46
45
44 CHE

...thank you do like this:
3rd TOT 48pts
4th CHE 44pts

...even though your entire life you've been educated to understand that that gap is 4 points regardless, and accept that a win is worth 3 points irrespective of the distance between teams???

Surely nobody looks at just the regular table, blindly ignoring the points and just notes the position? Don't people always look at the points to see how far away those around us are?

Just seems a very odd and unnecessary expression to me.

We have very hard fixtures between now and the end of the season. We still have away to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal to play. For that reason, it’s going to be extremely difficult for us to overcome a seven point gap in the league. But we can do it!!

Home to Arsenal and Utd, away to city.

Everyone else has a combination of these fixtures as well though.

Apart from Wolves we have to play everyone else (but Wolves and ourselves). And if I’m not mistaken everyone else in the league has to play everyone else in the league apart from one other team. And themselves.

We've played Cardiff as well. Liverpool are in a good position as in their 2 2nd cycle games they've played Arsenal and City.

Yes but my point was that away matches at Chelsea, City, and Liverpool, who are likely to be three of the top four, are going to be so tough. And we must take at least a couple of wins if we are to win the league.
