The case for the defence

Probably helps somewhat that 6 of our 9 away games during the first half of the season were against lower half teams, hopefully we’re still defensively sound after visiting Anfield, Emirates, Brentford…

Really
Saudi Sportswashing Machine
City
Forrest
Brighton
Brighton
All top half
And above us

Your of course referring to that table which should actually be the home form table to align with your comment

I would like to see how Porro and Udogie do as out and out full backs that overlap rather than running inside and just ball watching most of the game.

Apologies, half and half in the complete table but the only away game we’ve won against top half opponent was against €iteh when they were in the midst of their worst run of form in decades.

Again, I have the memory of a goldfish for this sort of thing but, what are the top teams, because the only one I can think of that we've played away is forest.
Did we not play Liverpool, arsenal and Chelsea at the Lane?
Saudi Sportswashing Machine are fifth so potentially CL and I would argue could be included.

I was only looking at our away form in reply to the stat posted that we’ve conceded fewest away goals thus far.

Hopefully we’ve got our first choice defence back for the visits to Anfield, Emirates and Stamford Bridge considering our historically poor record at those grounds.

Liverpool 3-6 TBC
ARSEnal 0-1 TBC
Forest TBC 0-1
€helsea 3-4 TBC
Barcodes TBC 1-2
Man €iteh TBC 3-0
Bournemouth TBC 0-1
Fulham TBC 1-1
Aston Villa 4-1 TBC
Brighton TBC 2-3

2 wins, 1 draw, 7 losses, 17 scored, 20 conceded

they should be able to do both alternately - overlapping or cutting inside. i

When Jamie fudging Redknapp can point out the tactical failures, are they literally even tactics?

Interesting that they don't mention that it was a centre midfielder that scored. Go back a few years and the pundits would have been talking about which one of our centre mids lost their man. They were proper football people then.

Guess everyone knows by now that none of our midfielders have any defensive awareness, which might help explain why all 3 of them were lined up in no man’s land just as Palmer was about to whip in his cross for their goal.

I honestly can’t believe Spence on the goal. Gave the ball away and then saunters despite have two opportunities to recover the situation. Appalling stuff.

VdV is culpable too for ball watching. Just really poor all round.

That’s true
But why does VDV go forward to the man Romero should be marking
That’s a decision the players have made
Just like the chance in the first 40 seconds…. The decision making is horrendous

Spence works well on the left
He attacks the Soave with the ball and stops the winger inverting into the favoured foot
On the right he does look way too casual
