Yes that's a fair assessment. Not sure I understand what you mean by rockisms on their part?

I meant classic hard rock tropes.

My views on all of this are bit coloured by still being viewed through the eyes of my teenage self. Everything is very black and white when you are that age. I came at it from being a Pixies, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth fan and I saw the rockier/metal bands as being what the scene was meant to be an alternative to.

To be fair, I have never spent the time going back to the bands I dismissed then and giving them another listen. Like everyone, I have mellowed as I have got older and am far less bothered by labels.
