It's Sheffield up against Reykjavik in our second quarter final. England vs Iceland (that went well last time). Pulp vs Bjork.

Have a natter. Voting will begin tomorrow.

Bjork is awful ( i know i have said it before), she sounds like a cat who has the tail stood on. I generally like most music but she is really AWFUL.

So why should neither of these albums be on the list @dawaxman? They both sold well and had a big impact at the time of their release.

It's all opinion...I remember these albums coming out very clearly, and the 'impact' they had at the time

Pulp were a Brit pop outfit well in the shadow of Blur and Oasis, both of whom were producing hits and top quality albums, whilst Pulp were the hipster's answer to this scene, and were kind of a joke

Bjork was a freak then, and not even the best artist on the tiny independent label she was on then - she was just an image - perhaps the beginning of style over substance in the music industry. She can't sing, and she can't write songs

In my opinion!

is there anything you do like?

Yep - I like plenty of albums from the 90's

Not RATM, not Bjork, not Pulp, not Backstreet Boys, not Madonna - and I'm not going to apologise for it

It's just my opinion

I think the hip hop scene was incredible in the 90's

I think the dance scene was also incredible in the 90's - drum 'n' bass, house, breakbeat, the rave scene

I think SOME rock music was fantastic - Pearl Jam, Nirvana, RHCP etc

But music is subjective I guess

my bad, I thought you'd had a pop at Nirvana and Pearl Jam as well in the other threads, i had you down as hating everything

yep totally subjective, this is all ultimately pointless as there is no correct answer

it's just @milo fishing for likes ;-)

Nope, I really like Nirvana and Pearl Jam - I think I voted against In Utero in that round though....as it was against Leftism or Blue Lines for example

I thought Ten and Vs were superb albums and love Vedder's voice

And I accept all the criticism that Californication got - think it was called Ford sales rep music. However, BloodSugarSexMagik not being in the knockout stages of this tournament is a travesty

Yep - but even second division trip hop is better than Bjork. Lawyered!

I think that Debut is an album bristling with ideas, charm and great pop songs. It didn't sound like anything before and Bjork had the balls to move on and do something different afterwards. She also had a great knack of picking the right people to work with and the remixes of the singles off of Debut were excellent too.

Agree with this, but I also think that can be said for Different Class, obviously in a very different way.

DC is probably my second best album of the 90s (behind The Holy Bible) - such a great snapshot of life in UK, witty, smart, dark and intelligent and good music to boot. Pulp had a great ability of making every song sound like Pulp but still making nothing sound alike
