Talk now. Poll tomorrow.

Not really gripped people this one. I blame the substandard gifs.
I think there's already a dividing (divided?) line between those who like music and those who like computers ;)

I don't see that changing in the context of this discussion.

FWIW, I'll be voting for Definitely Maybe as I like guitars n stuff - don't dislike Massive Attack, they're just not my thing.

I see it as a split between rock fans and soul fans on this one rather than digital/analogue.

I'm a rock/metal guy, but might go for Massive Attack here. Didn't get into Oasis until their second album, so this one doesn't have any emotional ties for me, and it wasn't until their live album I realised how good many of the songs on DM actually were.

kinda similar, I really like Definitely Maybe, it walked me back from a snobbish avoidance of anything that wasn't heavy rock

I'm definitely more a soul person than a rock one - I'm just not a fan of processed music like that.

I also don't like heavily produced guitar albums either.

Such a tricky one....I might have to abstain as I can't call it. Both brilliant albums in my opinion. Both sound great today, and were genre defining when released

I'd nearly vote for massive attack for that track alone (unfinished sympathy). What a tune. Taken as a whole the album was rightly considered as ground-breaking when released. It still sounds good today imo.

I liked oasis too but didn't get swept up in the craze at the time. I just thought they produced catchy tunes that sounded vaguely similar to the beatles on occasion. I also get this urge to smack Liam every time I see him which may also be a factor o_O

liked Definitely Maybe more at the time but then again I was ten and didn't know anything - looking at them today it's Blue Lines by a considerable distance

If you separate Oasis' music from the nostalgia/era it doesn't really stand on its own merit imo

Blue Lines for me too and by some distance.

Definitely Maybe has some decent tracks and it is the best Oasis album by some distance but they were a singles band for me and I think that they never got the knack of maintaining that over a longer form. I think that Oasis always had an issue with quality control here, it becomes more of a problem later in their career when the songs started to dry up but it is already evident here.

Blue Lines on the other hand is an out and out classic and would be considered one no matter when it was released. It was hugely influential and it's influence has hardly dimmed twenty five years later.

Voting for Oasis here would be like picking Slade over Marvin Gaye.

Voting for Massive Attack would be like voting for a Tesla over a Maserati.

There's no doubt that it's technically better, but it just misses that something that grabs your heart and excites you.
