The all new Juniors/on-loan thread 2013/14

Is it free for members of the public to attend do you know? And do you know how I'd find out about getting tickets? Thanks

As far as I know, you can just turn-up on the day and tell the security staff you're there for the game.

Everytime I read a match report about our U19s the names Akindayini and Oduwa are on the score sheet. Anyone seen much of this age group to summarise the talents in it?

Spurs XI 10-6 Charlton Athletic

Jon Obika stole the headlines with a double hat-trick as a strong Spurs XI played out a goal-fest with Charlton Athletic in a training ground friendly on Tuesday lunchtime.

Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Lewis Holtby were also on the scoresheet in our 10-6 victory at the Training Centre – but it was Obika who took centre stage with three goals either side of half-time.

Chris Ramsey praised Obika’s work rate against the club at which the striker spent a spell on loan last season – but insisted it’s important to keep the result in perspective.

“Obviously Jon Obika’s come back after a long-term injury and we’re very pleased with how he worked today and what he did; not only the goals – the different parts of his game were really good,” Chris said.

“It’s been a long journey for him but he’s looking more and more like the player we know he can be.

“To be honest we had a very strong team out and they had quite a young team so we have to put things into perspective.”

Charlton made a quick start, Toby Sho-Silva heading them ahead inside 90 seconds, but Obika turned on the edge of the box and fired in his first goal to restore parity in the seventh minute.

Lamela’s rasping effort struck the bar before Obika bagged his second, knocking in the rebound after Adam Smith tested the Charlton keeper with a long-range shot.

Obika converted Chadli’s left wing cross at the near post to complete his treble and, after Smith deflected Bradley Jordan’s low shot onto the post at the other end, Lamela added our fourth with a stunning solo goal, taking on and beating several players before finishing across the keeper with his right foot.

We went 5-1 up in the 40th minute when Ryan Fredericks got to the byline on the right and hung up a cross which Chadli nodded home at the back stick, but Charlton hit back three minutes before the break when Callum Harriott’s free-kick deflected off our defensive wall and crept inside the far post.

Obika finished off a neat move involving Lamela and Chadli to make it 6-2 just 70 seconds after the restart, before Holtby rammed home from close range after the Charlton keeper spilled Chadli’s left-sided cross at his near post.

The Addingdongs pulled one back after a great counter-attack on 52 minutes, before Obika added to his tally with two goals in as many minutes – both well-placed shots into the corner of the net.

Chadli bagged his second of the game mid-way through the second period as he drilled home following substitute Kenny McEvoy’s right wing cross, before Charlton’s Harry Lennon headed in Harriott’s corner from close range.

The visitors added two further goals in the dying moments through Ade Azeez and Harriott – a fine strike into the top corner from outside the area – with Ramsey describing the match as “a very useful exercise” afterwards.

“I was disappointed with the way we defended but I think sometimes when you’re on top for so long people start losing their concentration, which is another major aspect of winning games or playing well in games for a long period.”

Spurs:

Miles

Fredericks (Stewart 57), Capoue, Fryers, Smith

Lamela (McEvoy 57), Holtby, Veljkovic

Obika, Kane (Coulibaly 57), Chadli

With that team out we should have pummelled them.

I see even the Spurs X1 side plays 4-3-3 like our U-19's and the rest of out youth set up. That defence should never have let 6 in for gods sake. Also i did not know Coulibaly was back.

Academy set for AS Roma test

Our Academy players are getting set to take on Italian side Roma in their second match at the Nutifood Cup in Vietnam.

Goals from Daniel Akindayini and Nathan Oduwa sealed a 2-1 win against Japan Under-19s in Monday’s tournament opener in front of 18,000 fans.

And there is much optimism among the camp as we get set to take on Roma on Wednesday.

“As always there’ll be squad rotation,” said Academy Manager John McDermott ahead of Wednesday’s game, which kicks-off at 3.40pm local time, 8.40am UK time.

“The physical and mental demands of Monday’s game against Japan were very, very sapping and we’ve had Tuesday as a recovery day.

“We’ve got to try and ensure that Monday wasn’t the highlight of the tournament. The positive result provides us with a base on which to build.

“We want to go out and hopefully do well against Roma and the Vietnam Under-19s side (on Friday) and hopefully be successful in winning the tournament.”

HT: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 AS Roma.

Evenly matched game with AS Roma looking very dangerous on the break but Spurs having more of the ball.
