Tanguy Ndombele

It's strange he's got as far as he has with what appears to be lacking in personal drive. Lots have teams have seen the talent but no one seems to be able to get him want to achieve more. I worked with a bloke who was best mates with Gary Stanley (Chelsea) and be told me Stanley wasn't that bothered about playing just liked the lifestyle.

Clearly he's got the wrong mindset/application/entourage resulting in the wrong mentality and laziness. All the skill but not the drive nor desire to get fit and show us his talent. Soon we can forget all about this guy and he will line up alongside the other talents that just faded away.

It seemed like Sissoko was the only person who even part managed to get through to him in terms of being a good influence. A bit like Venables and Walter Smith were with Gazza.

I still think there was a massive sliding door moment in terms of emotionally intelligent Poch not being able to coach him at that key juncture and ending up with Napoleonic Wars sergeant major Mourinho.

Conjecture!

What a shame that he hasn’t made more of such natural talent

Have to be honest, when he's on it, I absolutely love watching the guy and would pay the ticket price just to see him. A great talent and natural footballer.

He has no-one to blame but himself though for his failure to live up to his potential and for being a spectacular waste of money for us.

Its so frustrating isn't it. He has the difficult bit - unique ability - but not the 'easy' bit. Dilligence, application, mentality. If there was ever a player to show that having the right mindset trumps skill, he is it. An expensive lesson for the club, but it is certainally not lost on us. DL doesn't like losing money so we have learnt from it you feel. All new signings seem to be checked for their mentality/committment and we don't seem to make risky punts now. All the new players are hungry and committed at the very least.

If he was "on it" most of the time him and Bentancur would be an unbelievable midfield. Such a waste.

So talented that he managed to make it to the top echelons of football without really having anything like the killer mentality.

The summer of 2019 was a truly disastrous window for us. Ndombele (£54m), Lo Celso (over £40m eventually), Sessegnon (£25m) and Clarke (£10m) adds up to almost £130m pretty much wasted. Okay, so Lo Celso looks like coming good now, but we needed him four years ago!

There are so many "maybes" when I think about what if that £130m had included one, even two properly successful transfers. Maybe Poch would have been able to rebuild. Maybe Mourinho would have a stronger midfield to build his team around. Or maybe Nuno would have had the players to keep his job and we'd still be bobbing along finishing 4th to 6th under him.

But anyway, glad he'll be nowhere near the rest of our squad for a while longer. I really hope he does enough to get a transfer in the summer.
