Les Ferdinand
By the end of his contract he would have cost us 120m in total....let that sink in
Maybe we could come to an agreement where we pay him off 12-18 wages months and let him go on a free

Well the talk is he wants to leave now is he needs to issue a transfer request which negates various bonuses in the saleMaybe we could come to an agreement where we pay him off 12-18 wages months and let him go on a free
When we signed him he did look to have the attributes to replace that rare ability Dembele had to resist the press, but then also had progressive passing into the mix. You can see why we went for him but what seemed like a coup has backfired as we backed the wrong horse. He could will become an Ozil like millstone for us as whatever the root cause is he has not looked any closer to convincing any of our managers that he can be an important part of the squad, let alone first X1.
Last couple of game he’s visibly stopped rolling past his man likes he’s not there, so perhaps he is trying but without that X factor his lack of athleticism and positioning nouse doesn’t serve the team or I’d imagine his own desires. Just hope that all parties can find a solution to move him on, from Spurs point of view the opportunity cost is huge to have 200k a week not being used on player(s) contributing to the squad, let alone the impact it may have on the morale of players being paid significantly less.
Yes - him and de Jong were the two most sought after young CMs in the world at that point in time. It was a huge coup getting him.
It was the psychological profiling that failed us. Or maybe we took an active risk, knowing that Poch would be able to manage him (be a Venables or Walter Smith to Gazza)
He was never tough enough for the EPL. IMO scouting failed.
How we didn't go for Fernandez I also attribute to scouting failure.
*Scouting = Levy + Hitchen
Conte has to try and get something from him if we can't engineer a loan. A loan back to France seems sensible.
Ndombele may have cost Poch his job, but Poch may have cost Spurs big-time signing distinctly average players for strong money at the end of his tenure. The same players now are not worth a third of what we paid.
Could it simply mean, the Club line is we don't air our dirty laundry in public?
The situation is so bad he should be training with the reserves. If his attitude stinks, he should not be anywhere near the first team players.

In twenty years' time, Ndombele will look back on his time in the Prem and go "oooh, riiiight, I get it now, I should have done things differently"
