*** Superspur vs Leicester OMT: The Sequel ***

We are all still waiting for Eriksen to come good this season and play and shoot like we know he can.

Time for a sports psychologist and a new girlfriend methinks. His shooting and delivery are too anaemic. Someone is sucking the life out of him (either figuratively or perhaps literally!!!)

He was playing well tonight and we started conceding the ball when he went off. His heat map will be mores side form what I saw. I also thought Lamella was excellent but faded at the end. He played like annengkish winger and was everywhere. Alli did t have his best game. Kane was too deep a lot IMO and we lost that out ball. He can't be behind the 3 who are meant to be in front of him so often as there is no target

Well, disappointed with the result of course but what a game - crazy and fantastically committed from both sides in really different ways. Hit by a sucker punch that could have come before, but then we could have taken two or three chances ourselves before then. We have the youngest team. We're doing so well. We do need to add, but for a year where a new system is growing and so much has changed at the club, the impetus is pretty-much upwards. We shouldn't be too disheartened, really. We need to add, for sure - I hope both Beradi and Berahino (unlikely) and a ridiculous winger (also unlikely) come. Soon. Harry needs a mate or two and once goals start coming more freely, games will inevitably change for us and we can control them more easily from the front.

Not angry, just gutted. Trains delayed, couldn't even get on the train at Seven Sisters because the inconsiderate fudgewits already on the train wouldn't move down into the available space to allow more people to get on, just had enough.

I'm a big Eriksen fan and he did OK tonight but we are badly missing some creativity and his knack of getting important goals, if you would have told me he would have only scored in 1 league game so far this season I would have said you were crazy.

Not picking on Carroll and he was fine today but he's just not good enough. Squad player and a good one at that.

And for the love of GHod, just please, please buy another feckin striker already. How many times will the club do this and decide we don't need an alternative?! How many other teams in the league have 1 striker in the squad? It's beyond madness its fudging stupid! Say Kane gets injured, what then? Play Son up front? It would make sense purely just to have a bit of variety, mix it up and go 4-4-2 every now and then, not every time we need goal but you get the idea. Kane has no competition.

I was watching on a s.tream tonight, and at half-time, they showed the average formation of the players in the first half.

Lamela, Eriksen, Alli and Kane were all very narrow and Lamela was the furthest forward out of everyone, with Kane in the position of 2nd striker/number 10/whatever you want to call it.

I can't help but think we might be better served with only one of Eriksen/Lamela in the team and a more natural goalscorer taking the other spot. IMO, the furthest player forward needs to know where the goal is.

This. I am so frustrated. We need to sort this out - we can win something this year but my heart tells me that typically we will fook this up.

And there we have it. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight's defeat was Tom Carroll's fault. You could not make it up.

I agree with Grimsby...
from what I have seen of Carrol.. he's championship only and I cannot understand him being selected.

You don't win Premier Leagues with 2nd division players....

The more you think about it, it was a smart away performance from Leicester and Ranieri.

They sat back (forced to mostly by us tbf) and waited for key moments to attack; their GK kicking it long into our half to relieve pressure/put us on the backfoot; then they waited for a lapse at a set-pice late in the game to pounce. It suited them that it happened late as it gave us little time to respond and long balls into the box were meat and drink for them (as they had been all game).

Fait play to them; this defeat was undeserved, we did play well. It will be forgotten (a little) if we can win on Saturday lunchtime and win by a good margin AND play well (though i'd take a scrappy 1-0 tbh)

It does feel like same ol' Spurs, but we lost to a team who are joint-top so actually it shouldn't really (at least not too much anyways).

We follow this up with a loss or draw vs Sunderland and then it WILL feel like Same old Spurs...

Start again; Onwards and upwards

Bit harsh mate. Do I think he should be starting ahead of Mason, bentaleb and Dembele - no. But he is a good squad player who has not let us down when he has started. I think we will see him benched once Dembele is fit again. Not sure what is going on with bentaleb at the moment.

I wish we could be Leicester, for once. A recently promoted team can sit top of the league, never giving up, fighting from minute one to minute ninety and winning in all sorts of places they shouldn't be: is it impossible for Spurs to do that, or are we just doomed to be the team that flatters to deceive, every single time?

Sigh. We actually were, for a while. But then we do stuff like this.

We were one of the top 15 clubs in Europe financially!
It's pathetic how we have no psychological strength or belief.

I wonder what Alex Fergerson would have put our failure down to...as a club of high status that bottles everything?
Apart off course..from blackmailing referees to give us the important decisions that matter, LOL. anyway..............................................................................Come on you Spurs...............o_O

Leicester are going to be our hardest league opponent we face this season.
Under Poch we beat teams by running more than the opposition and wanting it more.
We knock balls up the pitch from the back knowing that even if they win it we will press from there and they will eventually yield.

But Leicester. They're one of the only teams in the league with the balls to compete in a war of attrition with us.
We'd have much easier game against the likes of United, City or Arsenal.

Leicester are W7 D3 L1 away in the league this season for a reason.

Ultimately we were unlucky tonight.
We are only 4 points behind a mess of a City side that will soon completely give up in the title race.
And 7 behind a Arsenal team that has 1 away win in its last 5.
We are still right in this.

The only thing is as you can see from some of the responses on here. This was an important game...perhaps we don't have the depth..but anyway I could clearly see from his last game against Leicester that he would have no impact. I wish he did have...but sadly falls short!

I like Eriksen, but his free kicks really need sorting. And he should be relieved of such duties in the meantime.
It looked like it was Lamelas free kick from right corner yet Eriksen takes it, why, especially as he did the same on Sunday.
We seemed to just be over-ambitious and greedy, Kane and Alli, just shooting even though defender was right in front of them or Walker was free and ready to around the back of their defence.

Back without having read anything since...

Thinking more about the match, I feel Eriksen once again cost us today. We know Carroll is not Dembele, and we know he is cycler so-to-speak. I remember at least 8 times when Carroll received the ball deep, looked up, there was an acre of space to his right or left yet Eriksen suddenly popped up three yards away virtually beside him to take the ball and try to prompt the game. For me, given his skill and given his seniority, he should be the player drifting into that space, looking for the quick ball and making things happen. Carroll ends up looking bad because he has to play a short or 'negative' pass, when the problem is that he has no-one available in that space. It is a pattern. Further, his quality from set-pieces was generally average at best. Again, I think the thing with him is he has it in his locker so we expect it consistently.

Having said that, IF you are bringing Dembele on, it has to be for Carroll and you have to trust Eriksen to fit with Dembele as they have done most of the season. It was a sub I did not understand, other than he also felt Eriksen has not had a great game.

But again, the margins were fine. Woodwork three times against Everton and last night. Poor luck. 5 points potentially. Our luck will change and we will bounce back.

I don't think anybody bottled it tonight or played bad (maybe Walker had a dodgy game). We just needed to take either the Kane chance where Lamela slipped him in (and to be fair, it was only a coat of paint on the bar that stopped it, decent save from keeper) or the Lamela one where Davies found him in the box and he skied it.

I really would go and buy Berahino now, and get him in this team in a front 3 of Lamela/Kane/Berahino. We need another finisher in the side imo, and a bit more pace when games get stretched.

This was a huge chance we missed tonight, it's so frustrating!

Clinton's injury was massive.

I am still beating the youth drum here. Do you expect this young, inexperienced squad to have the same kind of mental strength as a mature Fergie side? The Goons have shown mental fragility with far older and more experienced players. I think that constructive criticism is totally valid in terms of slackness (TWO free headers from CB's in TWO consecutive games), but a young team needs time to gain experience.
