Some fans, by no means all. I'd be intrigued to see an actual survey of fan thought pre VAR. I doubt one was ever done but I know I was in the camp of no technology and still am really. Apart from matters of fact like goal line and potentially offsides if they tweak the allowance. Every other decision still has a degree of subjectivity and always will so no matter the amount of technology used depending on the officials on the day something may or may not be given as a foul.
Agree with your rationale for not wanting it, unless its completely AI automated there is always going to be a degree of subjectivity as humans are the ones using the technology.

However, regardless of your opinion I would say the majority of fans were asking for VAR - It was already being used in rugby and in cricket with hawk eye and working well in general and people were citing this as why technology was necessary in football.....
