There are, at least here, positions that favour women, and in some cases, require one to be a woman. For example police or customs, where during full nudity strip searches, the offender can request that it's done by an officer of the same sex. I'm a man, but can legally change my sex to woman without doing anything else. Should I be classed as a woman in such jobs? Of course not! Women have a right to be protected from such!

I'm not a woman nor a trans, so a bit difficult to give examples of experience. Anyway, the example I gave isn't in any way unlikely. Well, now it is, because this law now prevents it.

So the Supreme Court has ruled on an issue and has a huge amount of people squealing in delight at trans women not being women. The thing that always gets me on this debate is that the people celebrating this judgement have probably never met a trans person and even more unlikely is if any have ever been impacted by the existence of a trans woman. How this level of hatred exists for a tiny group of people who really don't pose more of a threat to anyone compared to any other group is beyond me. Leave em the fek alone

As the Supreme Court clearly said this was not a judgement based on science but purely a clarification of terminology for legal purposes.

The science doesn't support s binary position.

Although not trans-related (or at least I don’t think it is) but it’s funny how some men forget about “women’s-only” spaces when at football and they can’t be arsed queuing for the gents. There’s a reason a lot of clubs put a steward on the entrance to the ladies.

And under the law the Scottish government wanted to pass (and that is what this case is really all about, badly written legislation) you can have as many stewards on the door as you want, if a man says he is a woman you're breaking the law by stopping him entering the safe space or by complaining about it.
Self ID with no checks is open to abuse, the law was ill thought out, badly written and rushed through ignoring legal and medical advice and public consultation.

I don’t disagree with this. My initial response was to the idea that anyone trans might be a “wrong-un” and up to no good.
