Not necessarily, in theory it would be simply announced whenever the family decide to announce it. They have no legal obligation to do so within a particular time limit
 
Naija, you can save yourself hassle (and make yourself look like less of a WUM) by just saying HOW you know that Sir Christopher Lee has died.
Is it from your line of work?
Did you happen to be at a particular place and actually see relatives crying by his bedside?
Did you read it on an internet article from a reputed site that seems to have been removed since then (for whatever reason)?

I have seen news of deaths in the past be held back for effect (e.g. information on Jade Goody's death was held back for a few days so it could be announced on the following Sunday as it was Mother's Day; imo this was to create a more 'poignant' for the media circus surrounding her and the cancer issue).

So come on, tell us SOMETHING o show you are not just a WUM. Please.
 
He probably died on Sunday morning and then came back to life after dark.
