Sick sick world what is wrong with people

Well one side is using that statement to peddle their bigotry, so best to ask them. The rest of us do so mockingly as a joke so the reasoning is fairly evident. I think having seen a fair bit of racism and bigotry on this forum over the last 18 months to 2 years that mocking that train of thought....its justified

I dont disagree with the overall sentiment here

Again, I wasn't trying to single out any individual. If anything, I think this thread is a good example of how entrenched people can become, to the point where they're unwilling to concede any ground or meet somewhere in the middle.

Whenever a horrific incident makes the headlines, it seems to inevitably become an argument over race, religion or politics, rather than everyone simply condemning what happened and showing some empathy for the victims.

I've said what I wanted to say, and I was keen to reply to the comments directed at me. Thanks to everyone who engaged with me, even if we don't agree on everything. I always appreciate the conversation, and hopefully we can continue to disagree without assuming the worst of each other.

I do it the most. And it's because I've been asked point blank to condemn and explain behavior of Pakistanis and Muslims I have never met by posters on here. And this is down to my shared culture apparently.

That's what started it. And now it's a running joke.

Similar to when Marky recently said he didn't believe diversity is a strength in the UK. I'll remind him of that regularly. It's such an awful statement I don't want to let it disappear in to logs of Markys horrific posts.

I'll sign off this conversation by saying thank you for listening to my point of view.

For what it's worth, I think I'd be utterly fed up as well if I routinely experienced the kind of discrimination you've described. I can't pretend to know what that's like, but I can understand why it would wear anyone down.

I also accept that being white in this country has afforded me certain advantages. Personally, I find the word "advantages" more helpful than "privilege", but regardless of the terminology, I recognise that not everyone starts from the same place or has the same experiences.

Thanks again for the conversation. Even where we disagree, I appreciate the chance to exchange views respectfully.
