Lloyds are definitely worth a punt for a long term investment.
One thing that could go either way is Health Care Locums, a medical recruitment firm. They've had big trouble with their accountants over blackholes in their finances, but have sacked a lot of the staff that contributed to that. They are a "cleaner" company now. Their max in the past year was around 80 p, then they were frozen for a bit. Having been unfrozen they dropped down to around 5p. I bought around them around 4.5 and sold them at around 6 as they had a share issue and made a couple of hundred on them; the price then swiftly dropped them to 2.5p. I still retain a few in the hope of it going back up to what it was before but that is more in the long term.
backing up PD as well, I have heard about big things in Shale too.
