Sell Lamela?

Sell Lamela?

Not seen what all the fuss is with him yet.

Although every time I’ve seen Bournemouth they seem to be utter brick in fairness!

Good players, poor team. I have been a fan of Howe for years. Like that he plays the right way, but jeez is he naive how he sets his team out.

Ake for Bournemouth is utter gash. Cant believe anyone was linked with him earlier in the season.

Swap him for Brooks.

You might need a bit more to go with it. But actually its a perfect example of the difference between our current squaddies and the push up to the next level of having squaddies that can come in and put pressure on the first 11 to take their place or be relied on upon to start games. I want Lamela to do that but it doesn't seem to be panning out that regularly.

The argument you hear all the time re: our transfer policy is "its impossible to improve our team on our budget".

Well this is the gap I think we could improve - the in between players. We've really struggled with Alli missing, Brooks for example would probably have played a fair bit!

PS - I think you'd be hard pressed to find better than Erik for the money you would get for him. Particularly on low wages, never causing aggro and 100% effort.

Lamela on form is a no brainer - keep at all cost. Problem is that nowadays he's rarely at his best, plus there's the issue of his persistent injuries.

I always had faith in him, but it's fading now. Can see him leaving in the summer unless he starts showing what he can do.

I think the problem is you are relying on buying "A Brooks" and that player becoming good enough to push through.

Becoming good enough, without playing much.

And in the meantime the first 11 isnt actually improved, only squad depth. Which, even this season, wouldnt have been anywhere near as bad if not for the virtually tactical injuries we have suffered. (Seriously, its like a victims fan has voodoo dolls of our key players and keeps hurting them).

Ill always support buying young prospects and seeing if they can develop, and even making room for them in the squad to grow - but I dont think that sort of policy on its own will do any more than clog up our squad without improving the team.

We need to effectively replace first 11 players, with the ousted players becoming the squad option pushing for a first team place.

With the prospective production line running as plan B.

Brooks as an example, he ‘could be’ a total air head and be a non starter in a Pochettino setup.
This is why although I like the look the Brooks’s and the Grealishs’s of this world, we really haven’t got a scooby.

Without them..... who have we got? The Sancho's and Isco's of this world are out of reach imo.

Quite so!
What I was saying and badly is we might like this or that player but thier suitability is hard for us mere mortals to access.
Pochettino is very big on character and as we never get to truly ‘know’ them, we are just guessing as to that suitability.
