I agree with that. Crazy idea to sell him as he wouldn't command a high fee and it would leave us very thin on quality DM cover.
 
If Aitch offers anymore than £7 mil we'd be silly not to bite his hand off. Yes he can stick a foot in and show passion, but players like that are two a penny. We can probably spend the money and a younger better addition to the squad.

£7m and we're laughing.

We got Vertonghen for the exact same price and Sandro for cheaper!! There are better players out there, we've just got to find them.
 
I'm on the fence with that one, sure 7m would be good business but leaders can be hard to find and we sometimes seem to be lacking one on the pitch
 
It staggers me that we talk about selling players without any acknowledgement of a suitable proven replacement.

Yeah bring in 5m but who will be Sandro's replacement when he is injured? Joe Bloggs?

Steff just made a thread raising the question as to whether we are too nice. Parker adds that stability and the ruggedness in the middle of the park which allows players the more creative ones to play.

Was it not just a couple of weeks ago that people on here couldnt wait for Parker to come back?

You give me the name of two or three suitable proven replacements for under 7m - there arent many

I think that the chances of getting someone who can slot straight into the team and be better than Parker in January are slim. For that reason, I would rather we held onto him and tried to finish as high up the league as we can.

Absolutely this. Who's going to come straight in and provide the stability and drive that Parker does for 7 million quid?

Parker isn't fighter, he just sticks his head in where it hurts. What you need is a real physical Hardnut like Keane or Mackay, who actually intimidate the opposition. Parker doesn't have the physical presence to dominate games like this. He's just a nice guy who's respected by his team.

Surely he needs to be better than Sandro to slot into the team.


The way i see it is if we get a decent offer for him we'd be better off taking it. Buy someone younger as backup for Sandro and go from there. If we wait out his contract we'll not have the money to buy a replacement, and people seem to bitch and moan when we don't spend.

I was thnking that myself - plus we have Livermore who's hardly featured

Parker would have a Hudd-like squad role in this team (much like Livermore), imv - a solid offer for a player with little re-sale could be re-invested much more adequately elsewhere into the first XI - i.e. ACM/CM/LF
 
Parker was fantastic last season and we need to keep him. He'll be a huge boost to the squad when he comes back.

Its not as if Sandro was always injury free and there are a lot of games. They will share the CM position. And they are two great options to have.

I want to see Parker back in the team soon. And so does Villa Boas I am sure.
 
Parker was outstanding for us and England last season, its absolutely amazing that people on here want to sell him and it makes you wonder whether they actually watch any spurs games.

completely agree, if he is as good as last year when he comes back he'll be like a new signing
