Scott Parker

Parker tackles and throws himself about though, you actually notice that he's there.

I'm not really a JJ Fan. However looking back over the years on this board, a lot of people had it in for Jenas because he passed it sidewards and backwards rather than forwards and he played it simple rather than running with the ball. He covered a lot of ground and stuck his fair share of tackles in.

Nowadays Parker is praised for doing exactly the same thing, and in my opinion his passing game and ball retention is worse than Jenas. Jenas also offers a lot more going forwards too.

Different roles. Jenas has played most of his games in a Spurs shirt as a box to box midfielder, Parker as a defensive midfielder.

Good for a high intensity pressing game, perhaps?

Possibly. I think that in a pressing game it's more important to close someone down than it is to put a foot in.

I don't think the change in style is enough to make Jenas good, but it will suit his game much more.

If he starts the season like a train Parker mightn't even get back in the starting line up!

The way he tailed off in the second half of last season and looked out of his depth at the Euros, I'd say that's pretty much a certainty. I don't think Parker's got the legs anymore to be anything but Sandro's backup.

It's not like he was carrying an injury or anything..

Oh wait..

BUMP.

The forgotten man of this forum and one of my favourite players. Yes his form dipped a little at the end of the season but do you guys remember the outstanding form he had for the most part? he was unreal at times and rightfully won our player of the season award. Can't wait until he's back.

ALL HAIL KING SCOTT.

I have to say that I can't wait until Parker is back either. I have started to realise that he is better than I had previously thought.

Perfect game for him today. Not many teams will throw players forward at us, but against those who do he'd be useful.

Usual story with us and injuries, yep will miss 1st 6 weeks of the season tops, 3 months in and still no sign...

Whilst the guy is good, it wasn't really at the back we had the issues today. We were utterly defunct going forwards.

Parker would not have solved that.

I thought first half Huddlestone was great, awesome ball in for our goal too, second half though he was real poor.

Wasn't our kits supposed to have sensors and brick that give our coaches feed back on their fitness,
should be easier to spot who needs to be subbed off. Carroll on for Hudd after 60 mins?

Why we need Parker.

A lot has made made of our injuries lately. Names bandied around include Kaboul, Benny and Dembele, but the man we really miss is Parker. What was missing on Sunday and has been missing in most games where we have stuggled is leadership and a player capable of lifting his team through personal effort and inspiration. To me, this is Parker, as he is determination personified. He gets stuck in and there is a bit of mongerel in him. When we do lose.... he looks upset, not like some of the happy go lucky reactions so typical of some our 'warriors' this season. I'm afraid that at present, the side contains a lot of front runners.
