There was a concern Saudi Sportswashing Machine could sign deals with companies closely aligned to the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund that provided much of the finance for the takeover, and which would be used to inflate their spending capacity under Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine will pitch their sponsorship at top 3 level and claim (just as City did a decade or so ago) that is represents value as in 10 years’ time they will be a club consistently challenging for, and winning, the big trophies.

Simon Jordan ripped Trevor Sinclair apart the other day when Sinclair started trumping that Trippier was going for more than the money.

To be fair, at this point, there is nothing wrong with Trippier taking a bucketload of cash but lets not pretend this is something it isn't. It's a financial decision.
