I agree. I think my main issue would be that Chadli does not work hard enough to be a lone striker unlike Kane or someone like Berahino. If you are an attacking midfielder with a striker in front of you, it is possible to drift in and out of games. As the lone guy up front that would be disastrous.I know it was early in the season, but when Harry went off in the Stoke game and Chadli moved into the central strikers role, we looked v poor. As i said, that was very early on in the season but Nacer didn't look like a striker at all that day. I think scoring from an AM position (many goals coming from outside the area) is v different than playing as a striker. Needs different attributes. I think a half decent centre-bak pairing could stifle the threat from Nacer as a sole striker. Just my view.
my main issue is he just isnt a striker, likewise Son, they are both attacking midfield playersI agree. No way we are spending £20+million after their chairman tried to mug us off in the summer.
why did he mug us offNo way we are spending £20+million after their chairman tried to mug us off in the summer.
I'm not so sure. His previous outings as a striker did not fill me with any confidence that he can fill the role. His finishing is fine, excellent actually, but he doesn't make runs like a striker and certainly won't work as hard as Kane. If we are depending on Chadli to fire us to anything really then we're not going to make it. Son would be a better choice if Kane was absent but he's not ideal either. In short we need another striker, there is no two ways about it.I think so too. We will most likely miss the qualities of Kane of course but we'd adapt. I don't think our situation is any where near as bad as some fans will believe. Poch is right, we really don't need to panic buy. Of course if the right player is available to really push us on, then by all means go for it.
That's my point though really that would someone like Berahino be better for us (if the unthinkable happened) than say Chadli or Son or Clinton up front? These guys know what Pochettino wants from them. We'd miss the attributes that Kane gives the team, of that there is no doubt. But I think we'd adapt. There are goals in this team, and we'd find a way. Let's hope we don't need to.I'm not so sure. His previous outings as a striker did not fill me with any confidence that he can fill the role. I don't think it's a case of us not wanting to invest or that our aim is just to make a profit in every transfer window. It's more of a case of investing in the right player and not getting fleeced in the process by spending the ridiculous sums that Chelsea, ManU, and City are paying. If we are going to spend a large amount, it will have to be for a sure-fire bet and a. there aren't many of those around that would be willing to move, and b. even a sure-fire bet can be a flop (Torres, Soldado, Carroll, just to name a few) and where would that leave us?my main issue is he just isnt a striker, likewise Son, they are both attacking midfield players
would be a disaster if we dont sign a striker imo, we have made a profit in about the last 10 windows, this will make it another one
its so frustrating, this could be our only chance to win the league in my lifetime, yet we wont invest
All fair points. No one can tell how a new signing will work out but considering our pursuit of Berahino in the last window we can surmise that we have done our due diligence and think Berahino will add something to the team. That's my point though really that would someone like Berahino be better for us (if the unthinkable happened) than say Chadli or Son or Clinton up front? Let's not forget any team who lose their main striker (even with great reserves) will suffer from losing one of their best players. We are talking about coping and adapting.
i dont have a player in mind, but then i dont have a million pound budget, scout all over the world and im not renowned for finding playersI don't think it's a case of us not wanting to invest or that our aim is just to make a profit in every transfer window. So my question to you is which players do you think we should go for? And how much should we spend for them? You're complaining that we're not getting anyone in, so I assume you have a player or players in mind and how much we should shell out for them.

whats the point in bringing in a genius recruitment guy if he cant find us one striker when we only currently have one, and have a number of vital games coming up
Here's how I think it will play out before the window shuts.
We will definitely get SB or Dembele imo.
I think Levy will try and get SB but if that is not possible then we will pay more than previously offered (£5M??) to Fulham for Dembele. He has already done his medical so it should be a fairly quick transaction. Levy knows he can push this one to the wire more than usual.
That's a nice thought, but why would either WBA or Fulham be willing to sell at the last minute without time to line up a replacement? Whatever extra money Spurs may decide to offer to sweeten their bid at the last minute wouldn't do Fulham any good if they get relegated further without a goal-scorer (not to mention the transfer restrictions they're under).
Sky sources understand Fulham have agreed to take Sporting striker Zakaria Labyad on loan for the rest of the season.
@diego_maradona makes a good point: Chadli and Son know what Pochettino wants from them. SB would need some bedding in time (probably less than most, but still). And let's not underestimate Poch's ability to turn players around. There's nothing to suggest he couldn't do the same with Chadli. And there's also nothing to suggest that he hasn't been working behind the scenes with both Chadli and Son to prepare them for the possibility of having to sub for Kane. I don't think that we're taking a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants approach, compared to how 'Arry handled things.I'm not so sure. Well he hasn't cured Chadli's suspect work ethic to date so I would not be as confident as you he could turn him into the player we want overnight. And it is not just working hard, if you haven't trained as a striker then it's not something you pick up in a few weeks. Chadli does not move like a striker (he does score like one though - I'll give him that). I just don't see playing him at the point as being effective enough to keep us challenging to be perfectly honest. As I mentioned (somewhere) Son would be a better deputy.@diego_maradona makes a good point: Chadli and Son know what Pochettino wants from them.
