Ryan Sessegnon

Conte puts huge demands on the wingbacks, as we’ve seen already. In the pod linked last week the Italian journalist mentioned that at Inter it was common practice for the wingbacks to be subbed at around 70 min as they were completely knackered. So Sessegnon should get a chance to prove himself if he can get himself up to fitness. It feels like he’s hardly played for us at all so far tbh.
Of course they get 5 subs in Italy, so easy to use 2 to replace your wingbacks. With 3 in the PL, he'll probably be less demanding of them (at least both of them at the same time).

Why doesn't the epl move to 5 subs?

I don't know if they have actually voted and rejected it, or just not really considered it yet
A lot of clubs might be wary of it as it could be seen to benefit the bigger/richer clubs with better squad depth - quantity and quality.
I imagine it will make its way here eventually though.

It was voted down by the clubs this season for exactly the reasons you say, the smaller clubs thought that it gave another advantage to bigger clubs

Yes indeed. I just came back to the thread to correct what I said. I had a memory of Klopp moaning about it (although that could have been him moaning about everything and anything), and yes, it's been voted on and rejected 3 times. But the extra concussion sub is now allowed, and of course clubs can now have 9 nine players on the bench from which to select their 3 (+1) sub.

The other week I’m sure I read that IFAB were going to change the laws of the game to 5 subs. I believe it’s a temporary amendment at the moment. Not sure if this forces change upon the English game though.

It's not like the big clubs that play in Europe don't get the benefit of 5 subs in their European games, so I don't see why 5 subs in the PL would make that much of a difference.

Maybe I haven’t understood you, but 5 subs in the Prem would mean the richer clubs get the benefit of an additional 2 players from the bench that would undoubtedly be of a higher quality than those additional 2 players of say Norwich, for example.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned but five subs would also mean the bigger clubs have greater incentive to increase their 'quota' of tactical and cynical fouls, knowing that they will be able to send on two more subs of similar quality following the additional bookings incurred.

Also lots more time wasting opportunities. Imagine 5 subs at 2 minute intervals across the last 10 minutes

I was thinking more in terms of resting players, rather than bringing on players of higher quality. If you look at it from a resting players perspective, it's 8 subs across a pair of European and PL games, as opposed to 10 subs. So little difference. But yeah, I see the point about being able to bring on more quality players than a smaller club.

As said before, he'll probably injure himself lacing his boots for the first training session. He could be ideal, but he's always injured, so he'll never get a consistent run.
A podcaster said it is Sess's hamstrings giving the problem, much like Dele suffered for a while. Should be fixable with modern technology/stretching/"Italian medicine"
