Ryan Mason

Mason on Norwegian TV2 talking about how overweight Harry Kane was when he was a youth. :D

So great to see him in the studio, he's Spurs through and through. Nice to see someone put out the fires that are hinted at with wages when they are interviewed.

That PA is so awful it was impossible to understand most of what he said, but it was great to see him looking well.

Agreed

What player do you think he had the bust up with?

Well one of Kaboul, Ade, Capoue, Lennon and BAE. Ade and BAE were always supposed to be quite mellow/popular and Mason seemingly ruled out Kaboul and Lennon (body language may tell a different story to the audio). But he also said something disparaging about 'just because...10 years', so maybe Lennon?

I would guess BAE and perhaps Adebayor because Mason says it was all about "caring" i.e. if you don't win, if you don't put the effort in, don't be laughing and joking afterwards, take it very seriously, deeply, personally, strive to better yourself. Whereas BAE was much more chilled out and saw it as just a job where you try but if you don't succeed then go do something else, don't sweat it.

By the way, people are gushing about the Mason interview, saying it is the best ever ever ever and he is so wonderful and erudite and inspirational and OMG hopefully he will stay at Spurs forever etc.
I guess a lot of this is because of sentiment, he was at Spurs since a boy, didn't particularly want* to leave, got injured and was clinically dead for a while.
Because I don't think it is due to his actual comments, insight, delivery etc? I was quite disappointed, from the hype I expected a lot more from the interview, I found the Spurs Show podcasts with Mullery and various others much more interesting.

*He did phone his agent 2 days before the window shut and said it doesn't feel right and he wanted to leave, "find me a club", as he wanted to play #10 rather than #8 so... he went to Hull... played a couple of games at 10 and then was shunted to defensive midfield :D

Mullery has distance though and most of the people in his anecdotes are dead. Mason is very close to most of the current team and the current manager, so he was always going to toe the line a bit.
