Sad to see him go. Much like society in general, a lot of people's opinions are based on a goldfish like mentality and also preconceived ideas about what is and isn't hot. Some people never liked him because he wasn't fancy and many based their stats and opinions mainly on last year where he struggled after bad injuries. Before he got injured last year he looked very decent and the season before he had some really impressive performances. when confident he looked good on the ball and when he wasn't, he could be scratchy at times. However he put 100% in, worked hard, cared and made some excellent runs.
12m is a good price and it will free up space for Winks. Slightly frustrating to see some back their house on Winks that he's ready, when he's completely unproven at this level (I've seen him play several times for our youth as well). It is a risk by Poch with the more high profile games we will play this year, but I think it makes sense and fingers crossed this goes well. With Bentelab gone we look light in this area but hopefully with Poch's system and confidence our kids really step up - nothing would please me more.
Good luck to him, can understand the decision on both sides and I will be sad to lose one of our own... one other point - he is better than Hull.
Roy, as a spurs fan and a mate of Ryan's dad, it must be tough to come on here and read all this stuff slagging him off. Especially as you know him personally and probably all he wants to do is his best and give his all for spurs.Saw Kane today in Tescos cheshunt. He was signing autographs 3-5 massive queue. He did a double take at me ashes seen me with Mason etc always nice
Agree with much here, not sure why people need to brick on our players.
Mason is in the position of being too good to have to accept the bench, but not quite good enough to displace one of Dier/Dembele/Alli/Eriksen/Lamela. Part of it is ability, but part of it is he has been a utility player for us and is competing against specialist position players.
He may be too good for Hull (I'm not sure, some people thought that of Hudd), what he does need is a season of playing every game to give him the opportunity to earn a club better than Hull. Would not surprise me to see him given a less defensive/workhorse role at Hull and being quite successful more forward.
Time will tell, good luck to him whatever his final destination.

GB right now
Best for all partys ( imo).
I am sure to get this far we MUST have replacements lined up, just hoping we can finish the window with a bench that challenges the first XI rather than what we have currently.
I agree, our bench in the first two games this season has looked a little thin.
Surely we want a bench of players that make those in the first XI looking over their shoulders and playing to the top of their game. We dont have that by a long way.
