Ryan Mason

Best of luck at Hull. Think his injuries stopped him from being a regular, because I believe he has both the drive and the talent to succeed.

Luck plays a part in every career, especially in sport. There are many more players than places available, and he has missed out here - hope it works elsewhere.

Sad he's gone and he's one of the only players in our squad, along with Alli who makes threatening and intelligent runs in behind defences and arrives late into the box well. When fit and confident he was a really nice player who if he gets a run of games could have added some goals and energy to our midfield - something we lack at times. Can understand why he went but jesus he did not deserve half the flak he got on here.

I never felt Mason had the ability to develop into a player we can use to make the next step but having said that I always admired his loyality, determination and commitment.

Had he been born a decade or two earlier he would've been a homegrown cult hero playing in one of those sides.

As it was going our separate ways was always the right choice, regardless of what happens next.

Hope he has a very successful career without debilitating us along the way.

Brilliant read, especially this bit:

Mason is a homegrown player, a local boy who came good. Few players in recent Spurs history have been so visibly proud to wear Lillywhite, and he has been a pivotal part of the transformation in the club’s culture since Pochettino took over. It would be wonderful if he was a better player, but he has maximised his talent and is a symbol of so much of what is right about the club. If he was 0.1 percent better, he’d still be with us; if he was 1 percent worse he’d be playing Sunday League and watching Spurs from the stands. These are the margins. If you find yourself hating a guy like this, you fundamentally misunderstand what is happening at Tottenham. You may be happier supporting Emirates Marketing Project.

I thought he played centre mid for the youth @Yoof?? I've always seen him play there and pretty much boss the games

He was always a CM in a 433 but all the youth sides switched to 4231 to mirror the first team when Poch took over and as a result Onomah was usually the one pushed forward. He needs to be in the middle third of the field getting on the ball and building attacks, not waiting to receive the ball high up the pitch. I don't think he's ready to play CM for us yet either though so I can understand why Poch is using him elsewhere but for me you'll never see the best of him there.

amazing business from levy to get 10 to 15 million, sad to lose a homegrown player but this suits both parties

He'll be playing in the championship next season judging by Hull's recruitment last night.

The human statue Mbokani.

Will Keane and James Weir who have a total of 4 senior appearances for Man U to their names.

Markus Henriksen who's like an inferior version of Tettey at Norwich.

All the best Ryan. You have it in you to surprise a few of the doubters on here. How appropriate you are joining a club that proclaims itself The Tigers.

They are defensively decent (based on first few games), they are light on attack.

They may end up relying on Mason as their most attacking midfield player (which I think is his best role), if he gets a full season in (worry about him and injuries), I don't see a 10 goal +assists season being out of question. Get that and he'll be playing PL next season with or without Hull.
