Roberto De Zerbi

It's the pendulum effect. It now swings way back to stylistic fit and the other factors are deprioritised in the selection process.

Terrifying thought that the board will once again decide to go for a reactive terror-ball manager once De Zerbi doesn’t work out. When it literally never works for us.

If he comes and keeps us up, he's worth a shot for a season IMO, assuming we're not in fear of being relegated again.
I remember when we played Marseille and they played very good football. Obviously question marks over time to implement his style, but with players returning from injury there is at least a chance he could make us watchable again.

I can't see a better realistic alternative (sorry Ben Davies)....

I think it's more probable that Poch is not an attractive choice for the board.

He'd be unsackable, the board would have to bend to any demand he wanted, we're happy to chuck a wage at managers but less happy to give them the support and structure they need.

Hire Poch and there is nowhere the spotlight goes except on the board if things go sour, makes absolutely no sense for them to remove a buffer (the manager) which exists between them and proper scrutiny. The Ange, Frank, de Zerbi, roundabout of blame will keep spinning.

Hire Poch and that all goes away.

That is true. Poch back here becomes a Ferguson, Wenger or Guardiola, who will run the club on his terms.

Igor Tudor was manager of Marseille when we played them. They had 3 other managers after that and before De Zerbi too (Marcelino, Gattuso and Gasset)

Thanks, my memory is playing tricks on me - it was definitely a de Zerbi team I saw, I thought it was us playing them and that was why I was watching but obviously not.

Played very good football though, that I do remember....

I don't. I just reckon people in the know have a heads up where he'll be next season. It is not Spurs.

I'm not sure where it will be, but I reckon it will be one of the top 10 European clubs excluding England.
Maybe but most certainly the timing doesnt work, we know that for fact really

Chatgpt said this was the wrong manager for us in this situation. It goes on to say that he may be very good once he has a pre season and lots of time with the players but in the situation we are in we need Dyche.

lol! Plenty of people are saying ‘hiring a guy who takes a while to bed in when you need instant results is an…interesting choice’. As always my mind goes to ‘surely the decision makers have thought this through’

Let’s see if it pays off, and that we aren’t all sitting here in 7 games time wondering why we hired the guy who takes a while to bed in while we head off to the Championship.

Oh, now I’m hopefully it will prove to be a good decision!

Tried to ask ChatGPT when the last time Bristol City, Cardiff and us were all in the same division (mates support the other two & could happen next season) and it kept getting it wrong then basically gave up lol

I used ChatGPT for experimenting with trading strategies.

Was absolutely rubbish, turns out it's not so hot when the environment being discussed involves a load of variables....
It can’t back test either. Rubbish. Chat GPT is basically Alex Crook from talk sport, gets info from the internet and then tries to recycle it as it’s new information.

Fair enough if you want a proper recipe and indulge in asking the right questions then it’s pretty good.
