I like how his teams play football, I think he's a very good manager but I don't particularly like him or think he'll be here for the long term. This has all the elements of an appointment that will combust as spectacularly as Conte. However, if he gets us out of this mess, it'll probably be worth it.
What a position to be in. Having to appoint a guy on a long term contract for an inflated salary and with an escape clause if we go down while fudging off the chance to get the fella we clearly really want in the summer. Absolutely unbelievable.
It may well be the correct decision for the mess we are in. However, to be in such a mess dumfounds me and makes me beyond angry at the roosterwombles running our club.

I can’t wait to see the Vinai interview about how he was the standout candidate for the top 10 criteria. How on earth does anything in his background suggest he’s worth a 5 year contract?
Who do we clearly really want in the summer? If you are referring to Poch and then there has been very little to indicate the club are interested in him....

The fact we went for an interim in Tudor would strongly suggest that our preferred candidate is coming available in the summer. Unless that was de Zerbi, who was sacked just before Tudor was appointed and was available at that time, the idiots making these decisions have had to change longer term strategic direction to address a short term problem and are paying a massive premium to do it.
Beyond incompetent.
Considering you yourself were talking yourself into Ben Davies being a decent appointment, that is exactly how he is the standout candidate - how Vinai chooses to dress it up is up to him, but he's the best we could realistically get.
As for 5 year contracts, every man and his dog knows they are meaningless not just at our club but everywhere - if you aren't doing well you won't last a couple of years, that's just football management. But he wanted that security and was in the position of power, no one would have wanted to offer him 5 years off the bat....
Before Tudor came we wanted de Zebri and a lot of talk was we wanted it permanent. But specifically to Poch, there appears to be little appetite for his appointment from the powers that be.
And an interim always made sense considering all the best managerial candidates wouldn't be available until the summer, I think you was going to be disappointed anyway if you was expecting Poch to rock up this summer....

That first season when we finished sixth and qualified for the Europa league was probably the greatest season as a Brighton fan but that was Potter’s team and he joined us when we were second in the league with 15 points from 18. The second season it was obvious that something had changed and we/he didn’t cope with a small squad, multiple injuries and the extra games of Europe. We were terrible for the second half of the season. I don’t know if other teams worked him out or if his tactics were a bit one trick. A bit like Ange eh! He could be amazing expose, he could walk away when things get tough. Whatever happens you’ll be in for some amazing entertainment!”

In the defence of him, that video of him doing the rounds where he sends the player out of training is why sometimes football fans shouldn't see things online. Professional sport and that moment has clearly being brewing for weeks and everyone is wetting the bed.

I think people look for a Utopia that doesn't exist or look at their own lives and try and play "if that happened to me". Its pro sport, its a hot bed of emotion and charged pressure, its not comparable.
I'm not a huge Poch fan and think it was right to let him go when he did (not interested in another debate around whether it was right or wrong) However, until he does come back he's always going to be a bit of a shadow in the background. At this point we need somebody that can unite the club and fans, and someone that everyone can get behind. Poch is the only candidate that I can see doing that. I don't think he's the long term solution but would be a much more stable appointment than De Zebri and set us up with proper balance.
