Richarlison

I think his pressing today could have been better but he did decently to hold the ball up at times. It’s obviously hard to compare to Kane because Harry was so good at retaining possession and then releasing the ball while being pressed onto an onrushing Son. Richarlison just doesn’t have that in his game but as others have said, I think we give him some time.

It's unfair comapring him to Kane and Kane in a lot of games when we used to dominate the ball against a packed out defence also use to go missing aswell.

he plays much higher than Kane, it’s been a feature of our games in recent years that teams play out through their cb’s against us, wasn’t much of that today, they had to go long a fair bit
They just pump it king regardless
It’s their game
It’s why they need a keeper who can kick

He strikes me as a confidence player, if he can get a couple of goals I can see him going on a run but there's a lot of pressure with his poor record from last season, big fee and now filling Kanes boots.

We need to go into the market and sign a goalscorer IMO. Richarlison may turn out to be very useful asset for us but he’s not prolific and he’s not overly creative either from what I’ve seen. I like his physicality and dogged determination but needs to add more end product to his game.

Well, it's a question of what gets us more goals - having a specialist goalscorer #9 or having two top class wingers who fit Postecoglou's system and moving Son into that role, which he can play (has played before) and which players like him typically excel at (as evidenced by Furuhashi at Celtic, who is fast and a good finisher).

Plus, the striker market is scarce ATM - that we'e looking at Orban, a raw kid out of Belgium, is proof of that. There are more wingers we could look to pick up who might make us more dangerous - I for one always wanted to see us try for Pedro Neto, but there's also Nico Williams from Bilbao, Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina, and others we can look at for pace and threat from our wide.

Hope he gets a run of games for us, he is a very good player who has not really shown it YET.
I just don't se him as a centre fwd.
Wide fwd yes, but not leading the line.
His goal scoring record was 1:4 in Brazil, 1:8 at Watford and 1:3.5ish at Everton.
It's 1:2 for Brazil - but they have the best creators and often play poor opposition.

I also don't think he really ever led the line, certainly not on his own, at Watford or Everton.

I'm going to say the unpopular thing first ...we need to upgrade on richy fast while memories of the world cup are still fresh. :)

I can't dance really but he is not going to replace Kane and what he gave us ( i doubt there are not many if any who can) and the comparisons between the two is not fair on Richie. Son is not really a winger either so i would like to see if they can change it up between them during games ( which we did not do yesterday) and it may end up better.

Definitely not comparing to Kane. I just don't see Richi as being a reliable goalscorer above bottom half PL - which is a very high bar.
But hopefully it doesn't matter and we become a team with goal threat from lots of areas - that's the hardest thing to defend against.

I have a lot of confidence he’ll come good.

Yes he’s not as good or Kane or Haaland, but I think he’s as good as anyone else in the PL.

He was good for one in three at Everton, a side that struggled most of his time there. He’ll make the step up.
Good for him will be 15 goals a season, he's just not clinical enough or has that strikers instinct to get more.
There was one passage of play in the 89th min when Maddison squared the ball to him in the box. For his first touch, he killed it right in between his feet and allowed the defender to get close enough and his shot was wasted. I don't want to compare him to Kane but if it was Kane in that situation the first touch is out of his feet with his right foot, away from the defender, the second touch is a shot and a high chance of a goal. I don't believe Richy will ever be able to do that. That is not to say he is a bad player and we should get rid, he has his uses and will be a decent striker, just not top-class.

I agree, but other than Kane and Haaland, nobody else is either.

We have a front three -a team in fact- who have been used to exceptional movement on the pitch and in the box, superb touch, and glorious delivery. He has gone. This new system has different needs, and they all deserve time to get there and find each other. I'd like more switching of the three across the top personally, but I am sure it will come in good time. We must remain patient.

Think he played much better in the second half and started to really link up the play and hold up the ball better.

Agree. First half, the ball was coming back off him. As we got on top and just before he came off, the ball was starting to stick and he made one fantastic switch of play. Thought it was a really poor sub to be honest but it worked out well. I’d give Richi some more chances. He was dogbrick first half but good in the second.

Definitely improved. Close on a couple of occasions. Got one ball in midfield and switched it out to Kulu before getting into the box but the cross was inches too high. Reminded me of Harry.

Yeh he was decent enough second half. I think people are just all too quick to wanna slate the guy because he is not Kane and he also had a fairly poor time of it last year which was blighted by injury and lack of chances. Yes he needs to improve but this is effectively his second game with us as a striker and replacement for Kane, if people were being honest and let that sink in, maybe he might get a bit of grace and come good
