Whether they are attention-seeking or not, do you think they have a valid point?

It wasn't historic at all. It was one of the most predictable, least closely-contested finals in a while. The World Cup was pretty good, the final was meh. What will be remembered is that for two World Cups in a row FIFA were bribed into hosting the tournament in countries with terrible human rights records. Something that (hopefully once the bribes all stop) people will look back on an wonder how we ever allowed that to happen.

Sports should be just sports. Should not mix politics in sports. Whether you like it or not, the World Cup is the biggest sporting tournament in the world and every World Cup final is historic in nature, to be remembered by history books forever, just like every World Cup finals since 1930 have been. For me, it was the best final since Argentina beat West Germany 3-2 in 1986. It was not really a predictable final as this World Cup has been very unpredictable from start to finish largely due to no team being outstanding and all the defences being vulnerable.

If you do bring politics into sports, then almost all the countries will lose the rights to hold any sporting tournaments as all have their own human rights abuse cases including US and Britain.

The strange thing about this group is they have a wicked and vulgar name which most people won't even respect or mention by name. When I first heard their name some years ago, I really thought it was a porn movie or production company. I think 20 or 30 years into the future, people will still have the same impression of them as well, if they are still remembered.

Human rights, racism and war crimes are tools used by the West to punish the countries they don't like. You can't expect the West to follow them all, can you. The world is still waiting to see George Bush and Tony Blair be charged for war crimes for their war on Iraq in 2003. It will never happen, will it.

FIFA are clearly not a bastion of human rights, don't fall for that argument, the World Cup follows the money, if anything it needs more politics

I agree that politics shouldn't be brought into sports in a democracy where people are able to speak up and change things (within the scope of their electoral system).

That's not the case in Russia. It's been made very clear to Pussy Riot that free speech is not available if that free speech is used to criticise Putin and/or his friends. This is a brave protest by people who would not otherwise have a voice and should be celebrated.

In terms of where World Cups should be hosted, I'm talking about current human rights violations. Of course, if you trawl through history and apply modern standards, every single country in the world would be guilty of human rights abuses. That doesn't excuse being guilty of them right now.

I'm feeling a sense of pride here. I didn't think this forum was high profile enough to attract the attention of Russian Pravda bots - clearly I was wrong.

So its is all down to what individuals support, gonads at the end of the day it should not be encouraged, there are plenty of places they could/should protest.
