PS4 or Xbox One

Ok so I'm a PC gamer at heart, but with the release of Destiny on consoles only, plus a couple of other games in the near future, I've decided to take the plunge. The question is which one of the new generation of consoles should I get. Anyone on here own either and willing to give me a good reason to move in that direction?

I used to have xbox 360 and loved it ,then took plunge to ps4 instead of xbox 1 as most of my pals I play games with have gone that route. I can honestly say wish I had not and stayed xbox as they are a lot more user friendly in my opinion and Sony online service is ****e compared to x box live. Plus psn goes down quite a lot lately. When I've got some reddies to burn I will be heading to xbox 1 and not all but a couple of my pals have said the same. That's my 50 p's worth

I've always been an Xbox gamer (far better online experience), but this time the PS4 exclusives are starting to tempt me away. Not sure yet either.

Ive got a PS4. Never really been into XBOX so cant comment

PS4 - great games in the pipeline, some good indie titles on the store. Other horrors games which i have enjoyed, outlast and PT

the ps4 you can watch people streaming games or themselves in their living rooms. Its a great time waster and a good laugh reading peoples comments.

in the future you will be able to jump into peoples games eg if i was struggling on a level and wanted your help you could jump into my game (even if you didnt own the game yourself)

Im sure xbox has similar and they both are pretty similar. I much prefer the PS4 pads over the xbox ones.

Gone ps4.

That Microsoft has a tendency to **** off and screw their clientele did it for me. Granted Sony are there to make money, but they seem to understand that to do so you have to keep the customer happy.

Uncharted four should be an interesting exclusive too. If you have friends with ps4s they can jump into your game without owning a copy. I think it switches to a multiplayer mode, but this type of gaming should be the future. If I jumped into a friends game and enjoyed it, I'd be far more likely to purchase it myself.

In all honesty the exclusives haven't kicked in much yet. Everyone was 'woo titanfall!' For like a week.. But neither console has released an 'epic' yet..

OP: have you owned a PS or Xbox previously?

I work at a school and 6 years ago I was weighing up an Xbox 360 or a PS3. I surveyed one class and all but one of them said Xbox. I was all set, then I spoke to a colleague who was PS3 and wanted me to go on it so we could play online. I did say that I was very used to the PSX/PS2 controller and didn't really want to change. He looked at me in the eyes with all seriousness and said "Yes. Why would you? Why?". Spurs fan too, and I have not been anywhere near Xbox since.

So I can't really comment on Xbox but I do love my PS4. Very smooth, lots of good network features like automatic updating. Controller is lovely. Enough top draw games in the pipeline to be excited about though I'm not sue which are exclusives. Loved Watchdogs, FIFA 14.

Remote Play is well worth looking into as well. Can't afford a Vita for this and I reckon Playstation TV might suit us more anyway.

Last console I had was a PS2. My brother owns an Xbox 360 which I have played on a few occasions and I have also played on a friends PS3. I probably have found the playstation controller easier to use, but I'm so used to using a keyboard and mouse (especially for FPS titles) that both feel slightly alien to me. I was more bothered about the exclusives, given that the big decider for me during the PS2/Xbox battle was that the PS2 got the Metal Gear and Final Fantasy titles.

Also the extra features on the Xbox sound nice, but then so do the ones that are being developed by Sony. I just get the feeling that whichever way I go I'll end up missing out on something from the other platform.

I haven't gamed since BioShock on the 360. Think I may begin gaming again and the wife has ok'd the purchase but I have no idea which console of the two to choose either.

I don't think there could be anything worse.. admitting defeat on a console game.. jeesus. The shame of getting someone to do that.

I guarantee you, someone in school will be bullied because they let a friend help them and they go on to do themselves in. Terrible idea.

I was initially interested in that, but 720p gaming? Not sure I could bring myself to do that on a new console.

Why not include a gigabit port for a few £ more?

I guess penny pinching is what they have to do. Don't understand lack of backwards compatibility either, would bridge the gap and keep some loyal customers on board too.

If the Xbox One had a similar set up to the xbox 360 in terms of dashboard and mini dash, inviting friends, joining parties etc then it would beat PS4 hands down for me.

The xbox one is a family gaming system where as the ps4 is a gamers gaming system even though (apart from games and controllers) there is no real difference.

I don't think I've seen anything from either that makes me want to get them yet. Nothing that's worth spending that kind of money on, anyway.

same here, it will be a game that drives it, i've not bought a wii u yet, but when Legend of Zelda hits i'm sure I will

As it happens, if i see a good deal on the wii-u, i would probably be more tempted by that at the moment as well! still quite happily playing through all the games i didn't get time to play before, so no rush for me. by the time i'm ready to upgrade, they will be a lot cheaper with hopefully some decent games to boot :p

I could be tempted by Uncharted 4 too, but I did get a bit bored part way through number 3. Considering how much i was hooked on the first two games, I'm not sure how much it would convince me. Another Red Dead, another Fallout, or another Elder Scrolls or something like that, and i might be tempted (witcher 3 looks pretty good, but again, not out til february next year).

plus, i probably need a new TV before i upgrade console again!

I know what you mean. I've been looking through all the TV's on option and it's a minefield. If you want the best response gaming then Sony is the best place to go as their gaming mode offers very small latency times. Samsung make good sets too but it is in that one area where they fall behind Sony.
