Premiership Era Best XI - Forwards (#10 & #9)

Ok. Here you have the flexibility to go with 2x out and out forwards or play an Attacking Midfielder off them.

Here is the team so far.

Who i think is the best of those players and who i think would best suit the XI on the pitch, as dictated by the other options, are two different things.

With Son & Bale wide forwards you'd want a creative central player for balance - that means Eriksen behind Kane.

I'm voting for my favourites though and forgetting the connotations so that is Dele & Kane

VDV would mean 3 attack focused AMs/WFs behind your CF - you need someone to link with your MFs

I guess Kane gives the option of having him drop in and become the creator

Yes I went Eriksen because he came essentially play as a 3rd midfielder which allows Son & Bale to stay high.

An interesting topic when discussing managers could be to use our player pool to pick a best XI for each of the managers preferred setup

VDV did that brilliantly when he was here playing alongside Bale and modric. You’re effectively just replacing Lennon with Son and Crouch with Kane in that side he played in.

True but Lennon as a wide player was more team play than goal scorer, similar with Crouch/Adebayor - they both acted as a foil for VDV at CF. Would be fun I'm sure, would love a player like VDV right now

Far too difficult for me to choose from what is an awesome list of attacking players, so I went with who I wanted to partner Kane, which was either Eriksen or Dele. Heart went with Dele.

True but Lennon as a wide player was more team play than goal scorer, similar with Crouch/Adebayor - they both acted as a foil for VDV at CF. Would be fun I'm sure, would love a player like VDV right now

Yea I’d be delighted with any of VDV, Eriksen or Dele in that 10 role for this side

It's the only handicap that can keep him from sweeping the board

So many players I want to vote for, VDV one of my favourites to ever play for us, but on this, I can’t resist the idea of putting Harry next to Berba.

Are we getting a subs bench of the runners up?

I don't know the exact answer, but when I look at that team I'm not sure I can find a place for Sonny when Dele and Eriksen aren't in the line-up and Bale is on the left

Dele and Eriksen always knew how to take care of the right side between them anyway.

Obviously it's all opinions, but no way should Bale be getting in ahead of Son. Son played for a decade, is our 5th highest goal scorer of all time (despite being a winger) and captained us to European glory. After Kane and maybe King, he should be the first name of people's team sheets.

Bale is the best player we’ve ever had, by a considerable margin, he’s the first name on the team sheet.
