Pre Season Thread

Surely means Bentancur is off, they didn't get out of the group stages so no reason not to travel. I don't mind him leaving, decent enough player but is a bit older and if we can get a good fee for him then we should take it.

I'm not sure there is that much work to do really. If you look at the players that you'd say we're very likely to keep and register for the first half of the season it only takes us to 20 PL squad places so still room to register 5 more over the age of 21 if we wish. Another bonus is that only 13 of these count as overseas players:

1. Antonin Kinsky
2. Brandon Austin
3. Martin Dubravka
4. Pedro Porro,
5. Djed Spence
6. Andy Robertson
7. Destiny Udogie
8. Micky van de Ven
9. Jan Paul van Hecke
10. Kevin Danso
11. Marcos Senesi,
12. Sandro Tonali
13. Mateus Fernandes
14. Conor Gallagher
14. Archie Gray (counts as under 21 so doesn't take a squad space)
15. James Maddison
16. Rodrigo Bentancur
17. Mohamed Kudus,
17. Mathys Tel (counts as under 21 so doesn't take a squad space)
18. Richarlison
19. Dominic Solanke
20. Ben Davies

We then have 3 players who are long term injured so unlikely to be listed in the squad for the first half of the season:

Injured players unlikely to be included in squad for first half of season:
1. Xavi Simons
2. Dejan Kulusevski
3. Wilson Odobert

Of the above I suppose there is an outside chance that Kulu is named in the squad for the opening half of the season.

There's then a bunch that it looks odds on we're going to sell - and I don't think we'll have a problem selling any of them as all will have suitors):

1. Guglielmo Vicario
2. Cristian Romero
3. Manor Solomon
4. Lucas Bergvall (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
5. Pape Matar Sarr
6. Dane Scarlett
7. Ashley Phillips (looks like a move to Middlesboro is close)

Then a bunch that are very likely to go out on loan (and, again, I don't think we'll have any problem finding loans for them). If we don't then it doesn't matter as all but one are still under 21 so don't take up a squad place:

1. Mikey Moore (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
2. Kota Takai (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
3. Damola Ajayi (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
4. Jamie Donley
5. Tye Hall (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
6. Tyrese Hall (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
7. Yang Min-Hyeok (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)
8. Souza (still under 21 so doesn't take a squad place if we keep him)

The rest of the players listed are just players from the youth system that will likely remain at Spurs in the under 21s next season.

I think we can comfortably make at least 2 additional signings before having to worry at all about having too many players.

Whether your placements of players are right or wrong, it feels like we're probably about at net spending right now. We've had the 3 big signings that have seen us easily punch through the £200m mark. We've then sold the youngsters Vuskovic, Lanks, Devine, Veliz and not even recouped a £100m yet. As we know, it's all about what profit we can subsequently take in this year versus what we can amortise over multi-year with another couple of new players. That builds the transfer debt but we know we can manage that.

You do get the feeling that the next couple of dominoes to drop will be outgoing. Then we'll see one of the parked incoming deals happen quickly. Romero is clearly the big one in the mix.
 
Clear as day that we'll sign some attackers straight after the Chelsea game after they beat us. We'll slog our through the Auckland team, and the Chelsea game will show us ONCE AGAIN how badly we need reinforcement up top with the fanbase (and probably De Zerbi) crying over richy and solanke.

We don't need a loss to tell us that, RDZ can see from the tour team sheet, it's really Tel, Richi & Solanke for front places, no other senior player (Kudus, Deki, Xavi, Odobert).

Talk is as @Muttley said, we will likely get a couple out (Romero/Vic/Sarr) and then bid again for an attacker (likely Kroupi), Savino probably either happens or doesn't late when City realizes no one os going to pay close to what we have offered.

my point being that the loss will make us act. which frustrates me begs the question, why not earlier
