Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Its what happens when you have the most economically right wing government in the continent for 50 years.

Teachers using food banks, university lecturers having to sleep in their cars, but very wealthy died blue parts of the population like pensioners and farmers
That government taxed and spent more than any since WWII. But don't let facts get in the way of a good rant......

In any health situation, yes absolutely.

Financial, not at all.

Plus spicing up an exaggerated comparison, doesn't help you make your point.
News flash: if the financial situation goes to pot, people's health goes to pot.
If that whistleblower is right, Rachel Reeves definitely lied and that is a very bad thing.

For balance, in terms of "serious economist whose credentials aren't in doubt", prior to becoming a Tory:

George Osborne got a 2:1 in Modern History. Then he wrote the 'Peterborough' diary column in the Telegraph.
Jeremy Hunt got a 1st in PPE, then worked as a management consultant for 2 years, then became an English teacher in Japan, came back to England and tried to be an entrepreneur exporting marmalade to Japan, founded a company and sold it for millions.
Kwasi Karteng got a double 1st in classics and history at Cambridge, won numerous awards, then a PhD in economic history, then a columnist, then a financial analyst at JPMorgan and a hedge fund. So he seems more like an economist than the others, but was and is an arse.
Absolutely no need to be an economist to be Chancellor. It's a political appointment first and foremost. What is absolutely wrong is banging on about being an economist all election campaign, referencing your time at the BoE and in banking to drive the impression that you are the person they need to keep the economy in safe hands, only for those that voted for these economic policies to find out that it was a pack of lies.

As I said,, for me the important part of the revelations are less to do with what it actually says about her competence and experience (although in my experience anyone that clearly has a high and infkated opinion of themselves are often a recipe for disaster in a senior management role) but more to do with her past record of conduct: consistent lying to employers, expenses misconduct, dodgy CVs. I wonder what Starmer is sat there thinking now as public and business opinion over this budget collapses....wouldn't be surprised if she dissapeaes into the wilderness of DEFRA or some other backwater appointment in the next reshuffle.

Amazing how little people know about the legal system in this country.
Seems like it moves very quickly for some and not so for others....
I keep seeing throw away "if they were white" and such nonsense on stuff like this, and with the Southport situation.
Fcuk off with the racist card.
Totally ignoring years and years of similar cases, some of which high profile where people have taken years to get to court or had their identities protected (yes white folk).
You've seen loads of cases were police officers have kicked people in the head, or where assailants have smashed police officers in the face, breaking noses - which is all on film?

I'd like to know which cases those were.

None of your replies actually correspond to what I've actually written.

I haven't said anything about racism, I've said that the rhetoric of "if they were white they would be named" is nonsense and to the other point history is littered where young white adults have had their identities held back in order to protect cases. Its just fact

As for Manchester, the final files and evidence were only submitted mid to late August and standard CPS time frames can be 60 days plus dependant on case. So it's not this massive two tier mishandling that it's being made out to be.

I will wait till the facts present themselves before making rash judgements because if they are charged with the full force then people are gonna look fcuking stupid. Anything else is hysteria till then

I suggest you reread my replies then

Still waiting for you to show me all the similar cases over the years...

Nope I've said the statements nonsense not racist, because it is nonsense

The UK police force has a history and recent judgement of having made decisions and being run with a streak of institutional racism and because one case is taking longer than a few hysterical hyenas want it to, history is being rewritten.

I think I will wait till the final decisions out like a normal person before losing the plot thanks

Interesting.

In completely unrelated news the wealth of the UK’s billionaires has skyrocketed by over 1000% between 1990 and 2022, ballooning by around £600bn.
The number of billionaires exploded from 15 in 1990 to 177 this year. Probably just coincidence.

Why does it matter what those at the top have?

Isn't the important bit at the other end?
