Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

This is worth an hour of your time...Heather Cox Richardson an exceptional political historian, she dissects the election result holistically and with clarity.

So that was pretty good. She did confirm a lot of my priors with regards to how successfully the current administration legislated and how little credit they got for it. And the disconnect was largely due to the distorted information space we find ourselves in. The right-wing media have constructed their own reality that is pretty much all fiction but with Musk's control of X and other media tools the fiction has spread.

One other thing I thought was interesting was her comment that the only real bulwark left against the worst policies of this incoming fash party might be the state governments themselves. This ties in with something else I read where the prediction was as federalism is dismantled the US might end up in a situation more like the EU, i.e. free trade and travel zone.

A military expert on a recent podcast said the UK only has enough ammunition for about 3 days of real fighting.
We went on a 10 day exercise and ran out of ammunition after 6 or 7 days IIRC.
We definitely need 'someone' to look after us, as the British Army has shrivelled.
It's disgraceful the way the army has been run into the ground.

Wow!!

Police responded to one incident where a nine-year-old pupil called a student a “r*****” and another against two secondary school girls who said that another pupil smelled “like fish”.

These students were among a slew of young people being investigated for having committed non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs), according to a freedom of information request by the Times.

Well done to the EU for standing up to Trump and the effect his imposing of tarrifs will have on the economy.

They rightly point out that they are an open economy, the European Union.

Spat my tea out when I read it, the wife said "what's wrong?"

Just those cnuts in Brussels again dear.

Farage bringing a private prosecution against the guys who unprovoked attacked violently female police officers at Manchester airport is an interesting development.

As our court system has become ever more political and the CPS make odd decisions about the seriousness of crimes I wonder if this will happen more.
