This is my favourite new thing related to race in Britain. It's called the Sutton Hoo bucket. It was discovered this spring. It was a highly revered grave good, buried in Suffolk in about the year 625 AD. And it is a noble black female warrior. So everything those people hate, but part of our history much longer ago than anything they wish was true (flag shagging marching bands etc).

The remains in the cremation bucket were too far burnt for DNA analysis, the comb though that was found is having DNA testing now and as far as I know those results haven't been released yet.

I've been to Sutton Hoo a few times. Fascinating place.

The Dig is a very good film about it on Netflix

Yeah, sorry - no i mean the image in the artwork (left side of that picture) is of a black woman warrior, not the person who was buried there
