I had an account for a bit, but found the level of noise too annoying. Wasn't following any great number of people either.
I like it as an updates service, although that's nothing other things didn't already do.
It's also cretinous that news outlets like the beeb seem to think social media reaction is in some way newsworthy. But that's not twitters fault I guess.

I have forbidden my kids from twitter, facebook and the rest. Too much scope for fudging around. The eldest is probably the only one that is really old enough as of now anyway but if he wants to talk to his friends he can talk to them. He has a phone, but is a one of those nokia jobs that has basically nothing on it except snake (yes I'm a meanie).

I think that Twitter's big problem is that it can take a while to find your feet and if you are not following interesting people, your experience is going to be pretty dull.
For media outlets, Twitter is just cheap copy. But I saw in the Metro the other week that they have a section where they take posts from message boards and try to pass it off as informed opinion on a clubs transfer business. That is just as bad.

Sounds very sensible........my 9 yo grandson has a Iphone and its bloody asking for trouble.........but
Keeping them off all the sites is going to be increasingly harder as they get older.

I already caught him looking at stuff he shouldn't have been on his tablet!!! I think I scared him off that for a while at least. Talk about permanently baffled by 21st century. Yesterday I parked on a single yellow line (it was a Sunday) outside the Controlled Parking Zone around WHL only to discover on getting back from the match my car had been stolen. Except when I phoned the police they told me it had been removed by Haringey Council.
Me and my son had looked around for signage about parking restrictions on arrival and could find none. It wasn't until after we got back when the police had informed us the zone has recently been extended that we went hunting and found a newly erected notice high up and facing in the opposite direction from where we'd come fully 100 yards down the road.
Long story short my son then used his iphone to order a Uber and get us to the compound. I never carry credit cards or my driving licence with me to games in case of pickpockets so had to phone home to get my wife to photo my licence and passport and send it down the phone as proof of ID. My son then had to use his credit card to pay the £265 to get the car released, otherwise it would have meant a three hour journey home by public transport last night and then back next day to collect it plus an extra £40.
What do you reckon? Do I have a cat in hell's chances of getting even a partial refund? Is it worth a try?
