OT: Chelsea players

Since AVB left they start to go on form ... did the players play badly on purpose to get AVB out? If that is the case i would be bloody tinkled as a fan. Shouldn't they play to their best regardless? If it is the case of AVB being a poor manager and thus causing them to play poorly i can understand but the sudden turn in form seem too much a coincident to me.

We playing them in the leauge soon and then likely FA cup semi (if we go pass bolton) ... should really rip all of them new asses.

Thinking back to Hodgson's tenure at Liverpool, it seemed that the Liverpool players, used to the highly exotic Rafa Benitez, were totally unprepared to give any sort of a brick for steady old Woy and felt that it was an insult to their ability to have such a small time manager. This feels kinda similar, but in reverse. Old timers like Terry, Frank and Drogba were tinkled off with being disciplined and found it insulting that someone almost their age with fudge all playing experience at top clubs could order them around and tell them how to play. Now that Di Matteo's around and is effectively Terry's assistant, they're all much happier. Worrying if you're Roman, fudging brilliant for everyone else.

Terry probably does the team sheet via text. Half-man/half-owl simply fills it in, looks smug on camera and claps at goals like a bozo

AVB created disharmony. Its clear.

Top young coach in his homeland, but he needed to be a lot smarter in a top league like the Premier League and especially at a club like Chelsea. He should have known better to alienate the rulers of the roost over there.

Plus some of his team selections and tactics were strange to say the least.

wrong man, wrong club, wrong time.

Rubbish - no player is bigger than the club and those cnuts should have been put in their place as soon as the first signs of moaning came up. If he was indeed hired to carry out the impending transition then it beggars belief to see who the owner ended up backing.

it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that the likes of Terry, Lampard, Drogba consider themselves to be bigger than the club. Even an experienced top man like Ancelotti knew that he had to keep the experienced players on his side, at least during the season when team harmony is ultra important, at any club. IF AVB wanted to get rid of these players, why not wait till the summer? Why tinkle off half the playing staff during the season? its rank inexeprience, and whats worse is that HE KNEW the characters of these players because he had been at the club under Mourinho. He should have known that their egos were a bomb waiting to explode.

Im sorry but he only has himself to blame.

My question is really

1. Did the players (or at least some of them) are motivated to play badly to get rid of AVB OR
2. They are de-motivated thus the bad results

if it is the former i would be disgusted.

He should have been backed up properly by the owner and a simple statement outlining his long term vision/transtion plans would have put those trouble-makers in their spot. Manager > Players. Nothing else works and will never work whoever comes in next

PROBABLY JUST THE DEAD CAT BOUNCE, LACK OF BAck room harmony, low confidence under AVB, influential players bringing down the morale of he dressing room etc etc

these things happen all the time. one of the reasons i dont put much stock in what people say with regards to players ability from a week to week basis. one week they would only take 2 players from chelsea , now they;ll takie like 10 people

form / confidence afects players all over. its the good players that dont really get too deterred by their form or confidence that you pay BIG money for

there is a culture of player power at that club, everyone knows it. It was AVB's job to cleverly remove those players, like i said keep them on his side at least until the coming transfer window and then bang get rid of them and bring in his own boys.

He went about it in the wrong way. His fault.

i dont think they played badly on purpose. It was a simple case of disharmony, look at the Tottenham players who were brick under Ramos and who suddenly started to play under Redknapp. Players are a fickle bunch and it doesnt take much to upset them, as much as it doesnt take much for them to be happy again.

How exactly is it his fault for not receiving full and unconditional backing from the owner?

erm, again AVB, like the rest of us, know that Abramovich's history with managers.

What did AVB really expect from the Russian? Is AVB really that stupid? If he is, the its no surprise the cnuts at Chelsea found him out so easily

Of course they did. tosspard didnt like sitting on the bench, One of the scummiest men on the planet was having none of it. AVB was getting them to play in a way that was out of their comfort zone, their full dressing room is made up of some of the biggest pricks in the game, Terry, Lampard, Cole, Drogba etc. You can clearly see that although DiMatteo is the manager, Terry is the stand-in manager really. Also, they all had no class or professionalism to play to the best of their ability regardless of who was managing. Scum club, hate them almost as much as the gooners.

He didn't get it right, but it was (and will be) a difficult situation to deal with. Had he pandered to the experienced players and not gotten results people would be saying that he should have been stricter and taken control of the dressing room more.

but this was a squad who had won the double 2 years ago, last season they finished 2nd.

by trying to impose himself and his ideas to quickly, this season Chelsea have been hovering outside the top 4, something that hasnt happened for many a year. Im not saying he should have pandered to them, but at least not pi$$ them off like he did. There is an art to management, especially at this high level.

Support through the difficult (and inevitable) transition period, that is all. Not allowing cnuts to moan continously for sitting on the bench, etc.

support from a man who so easily sacked greats like Mourinho and Ancelotti?

AVB knew what he was getting himself into at Chelsea. Its a results business, his results stank, he's out the door.

He tried to get things going to build for the long term. Had to be done sooner or later. I agree it would have been better for him and them if he could have kept the big names happy, but it was always going to be very difficult.

and to be fair, yes we know about the cnuts like Terry, Lampard, Cole, Drogba, Mourinho's boys. Its understandable that they would kick up a fuss given the smallest opportunity

but what about Torres? he was abjectly poor under AVB. The manager couldnt get the best out of him. He leaves, and guess what, Torres manages to score a couple of goals and looks like a half decent striker.

what about Luiz and Meireles, two high profile supporters of AVB. What was their excuse for performing so poorly under him? Why was Lukaku, an AVB signing, so under used?

tactics, style of play. Im sorry but Rodgers at Swansea has them playing a brand of football which is on another level to what AVB was trying to implement at Chelsea.

anyone who saw his Porto play could have foreseen some problems if AVB tried to bring that style to the Premier League. Way too open, not defensively sound, and too reliant on the explosive talents of 2 forwards in Hulk and Falcao to get the goals

AVB is no different to Juande Ramos apart from the age difference, ability to speak english and the gravelly voice
