What: Europa League group match, gameweek 4
Who: vs Galatasaray Spor Kulübü
Where: Ali Sami Yen Stadium, Istanbul (aka RAMS Park)
When: Thursday 7th November 2024, 17.45 GMT

Some senior players will likely be needing a rest, so hopefully we'll be starting mostly with kids/second-stringers. Tbh, with some of the injuries we might not have much options but to.

Maybe we'll start the following:

Forster
Porro Dragusin Davies Gray
Bergval Bissouma Maddison
Moore Lankshear Werner

Porro got a good rest in the last midwek vs Emirates Marketing Project, i belive in anticipation to play the 3 games this week. We can't keep pushing Udogie (though tbf he only played vs City in the cup because of the MVDV injury) so i think Gray will get the LB gig here. Unless Dorrington or Reguillon play..

Solanke and Johnson i think deserve a rest, though i woulodn't be surprised they get to come on second half.

I'd simply love a clean sheet, but just don't want to get humiliated...

This will be a tough game. There's often talk of "hostile" atmosphere, but this stadium really is! I was there in 2011, just months after it opened, and the noise and atmosphere was immense! Unlike anything i've ever witnessed before or after. Their team is made up of mostly "has beens", but they still posess quality, especially at home. Would be fairly happy with a draw. If we can keep them quiet in the first half, I suspect our superior fitness and pressing can put them under preassure in the 2nd half.
Have no idea what team Ange will put out for this.

Would be delighted with a draw! At the end of the day, we are going to have to rest and rotate for some of these Europa League fixtures and I feel this should be one of them. Of course partly because we are forced to with a number of injuries, but also I feel this is a game that even playing our strongest team in we could potentially slip up in so rather than waste what is precious energy for several players right now rest/rotate them.....

With 3 wins from 3 and still 4 games left after, this one doesn't matter

Leave Solanke/Kulu/Son/Porro (maybe more) at home

We are approaching a busy old period and an international break with managers that don't really care about player work loads, let's rest some players whilst we can

My thoughts exactly. We really can’t afford any more injuries especially to the CB’s so I would rest Dragusin, potentially Davies too. This is most likely our hardest game in the group stage and we could lose even with full strength as you point out.

I expect to see some rotation, but this is a tougher game than we have played so far in this competition.

Not having that we shouldn't be bothered about this game. It's the wrong mentality for me. We should be putting a team out capable of winning this.

Would be a huge call starting a 17 year old, two 18 year olds, and a 19 year old up front in this game.

Isn't it also the case that Dragusin and Davies are likely to play both their international games as well as the Ipswich game?

For 32 year old Davies, that would mean going from a couple of recent sub appearances to playing 3 games in 9 days. I would say that's as high risk as anything we have.

Way different from Solanke who will probably be on the bench for both the England games. He should possibly start both Spurs games this week for that reason, whilst Johnson needs to be managed carefully. Like Davies, he'll start both for Wales.

Then we perhaps have others like Porro, Udogie, Werner and Madds who may not even be selected for their countries. We can perhaps push these guys bodies a little harder and then let them refresh.

I guess Ange has to look at every player separately this week. There are lots of younger age group internationals as well.

It is, but
a) we've done similar to this before this season (vs Ferenvaros)
b) needs must; we ahve a fair few injuries and some players that need to be managed before the international break (after which things get even more congested!)

With Romero and VdV likely out for Ipswich, Dorrington should get some gametime on Thursday

Dorrington has struggled to produce his form since the injury he picked up at the end of last season and none of the other academy CB look anywhere near ready for the first team.
This is a game we need to play on the front foot and agree with those who think our fitness could be a big factor.

I read a comment somewhere that he was sorely missed in the recent loss. It was implied he is a step above what we have on the pitch.

Out of interest, who are the current U21 centre halves not on loan? We saw Lyons Foster leave last January and Charlie Sayers went to Scotland in the summer. I know Abbott was filling in there last season, as well as Ashcroft. I guess the replacements must be closer to the U18 age group.

We've not got a lots of experience in that position in U21's, Cassanova, Baptiste have just moved up and Ashcroft, Andiyapan are versatile defenders who fill in anywhere, wouldn't fancy any of them at this time.

Form matters, don't think we want to throw this.

International break coming up, obviously a lot of the injuries will drive selection but think we want to go as strong as we can. 2 losses in last 13 games sounds/feels way better than 3 in 12.

I think we'd need a practically full strength team to win, I also reckon we need to beat Ipswich more than we need even 1 point from this match, so I reckon go full "Jolly boys day out" and send a full academy team, then out to a theme park after with free ice creams from DL.

Academy team plays Swindon tonight
We need to beat them to progress in the EFL trophy.
I don't expect anyone playing in that game will be involved with this one
