omt*** Tottenham Hotspur Vs Leeds United

I almost hope we don't score...........force the issue about a striker,

Obviously I don't want us to lose, but you get my point

Would be tempted to bung Obika on. At least he'd be up for it and put himself about a bit.

Not this whole people not understanding Bale and Lennon on opposite wings thing again.

The point of tradional wingers is to cross the ball into a tall striker.

We don't have one of those.

There's no point bale and lennon crossing the ball into the leeds penalty area.

So they are playing opposite flanks:
- to cut inside play through balls into demspey and siggy to run onto.
- to cut inside and run through the defence causing havoc.
- or occasionally cutting inside to shoot on their favoured foot.

But we have scored goals from low crosses in the box, or pull backs from both Lennon and Bale when playing on their natural wing. I get why AVB does it, but I think they look so much more comfortable attacking down their natural side.

No. We need to attack them down the flanks and put in low and hard crosses to Dempsey, Sig and Hudd/parker coming on the ball. It really is that easy.

Obika on for Siggy.
Dembele on for Parker.

......................Friedel
Naughton...Caulker...Vert....Ekotto
Lennon...Hudd....Dembele...Bale.
..................Dempsey
....................Obika

We need to sign a striker ...
As we have all been aware for some time. Dempsey was flicking ball onto no one your up sodding front pal!!!

We are dominating every aspect of this match bar the obvious. We are dwelling on the ball too long in the final third, it needs to be released quicker. Worrying signs of Hollywood from Bale again too.

Because Parker is more advanced than Huddlestone for some reason. He was the same when he partnered Modric too, just got forward for some reason and he's poor in the final third.

A perfect example of the problem with the inverted wingers is when BAE put Lennon in, inside the full back. Instead of cutting the ball back early, he hesitated because it wasn't on his natural foot, turned inside and crossed with his right foot swinging the ball in too close to the goal keeper. Bale would have cut back on his left straight away or fired a low cross in going away from the keeper.

Playing them on opposite flanks has worked before, we've scored many goals from it.
But no one mentions it except when we are losing.

AVB probably experimenting a bit. We'll do them second half. At least make it less boring. Typical lax cup performance.

And he did the same playing beside Dembele last week.

We as fans certainly are, the board, however, seem to be quite happy with things as they are

You know it's bad when people want us to bring Obika on

Ha. I would like to see him on just for the hell of it. Tell Bale and Lennon just to whip crosses in and see what Obika can do.

The BBC don't seem to rate him though "Spurs need to offer Clint Dempsey some extra support up front yet there are no out-and-out strikers on the bench."
