***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham

From Meulenstein's interview today I expect Fulham to be well up for this and a difficult to beat unit. He commented on how the first thing they needed to do was be hard working and to tighten things up. I'd reckon on them having players like Taarabt and Berba on the bench.

Think we need to rotatate a smidgen with all the games coming up. If Defoe is deffo off to Toronto in January we should start to plan without him. If Rosé is still injured then the same back 5 basically picks itself - except maybe Kaboul instead of Daws. Much as I don't like Verts as left back, unfortunately we don't really have any other viable option there.

Dembele seems to be coming back into some form so I would keep him and Sandro in the heart of the midfield. Paulie was better against United but still isn't the all action box to boxer we ( or at least I) had hoped for and maybe needs more time in the premiership to adjust. I would play Lamela in the whole as there should be more room in this away game against a team not in form and it could help build his confidence.

Then, there is a straight choice for me Townsend or Lennon and Chadli or Sig. If no Rose. I would go for Chadli again as I think he works better with Verts ( the Belgian connection) and is more of a natural winger. Maybe a half eac. Same with Townsend and Lennon, but this time I would start with Townsend, who I think offers more of an all round threat.

Soldado therefore picks himself by default. Defoe is off, Ade is injured or out of favour, and Kane can't lead the line by himself. We desperately need to rid ourselves of the flotsam in January and bring in someone that can play instead of ( or even with) Soldado.

So my team for Fulham is

-------------- Lloris -------------

Walker--Kaboul --- Vlad ---Verts

------------Sandro ---------------

-----------Dembele --------------

Townsend-----------Chadli

------------Lamela ----------

------------Soldado ---------

This team = 2-0 Spurs.

Id play 442 here and just ****ing attack. Defoe and Soldado and lets see how they get on. We should be beating Fulham in any formation we decide to select

I think the team we played today are a good counter attacking side. May be perfect for our upcoming away games

Hmm... we could have done without the new manager bounce. This guy is a good coach, very good, but it remains to be seen if he is a good manager.

Yeap, its a variable to throw into the mix. RE: pirates team, I like it although maybe we could give Capoue a game to gain some fitness. IMO Holtby and Sig will start in the places of Lamela and Chadli. I don't think they should but I reckon they will.

Fulham will have a dead cat bounce with their new manager.

This is not the game to introduce not fit (Kaboul), not settled (Lamela) or not in form (Townsend) players. Let's just build on today's success.

Don't think we need Capoue,he would have to start in front of Sandro who's confidence should be high .

Capoue was a waste of money IMO. We are overloaded with strong midfielders who rarely score. Could have bought Villa fro £7m or another striker.or LB

Our signings were not thought out well enough.

When will it ever be the right time to introduce Lamela? How can he become settled if he doesn't get any game time? He must at least be on the bench. Can you see AVB bringing him on when we are say 2-0 up? He is much more likely if past experience is anything to go by, to shut up shop. If he brings him on at any other time, when we are looking for a result, doesn't this just add more pressure on him? And in a limited time to do it.

Show some faith in him and give him some starts.

Jason Burt said yesterday that neither AVB nor Baldini ever expected Lamela to feature much for six months. They want to give him time to settle and ensure he succeeds long term.

Remember Bale's harrowing start and how we was very nearly flogged off to Nottingham Forest.

Makes it pretty weird his first start in the PL was against City away. You would think it would be better to start him in more easy home games.

EXACTLY.

Jason Burt can say whatever he likes but to NOT start him at home to Saudi Sportswashing Machine (after a fantastic performance mid week), start him on the left vs City, and then drop him all together leads me to believe it's nothing to do with a settling in period.

Lennon was excellent yesterday but I'd go Andros to start this one with Lennon to come on later. I'd also bring in Capoue for Sandro to rest the Beast after a brilliant performance yesterday- Capoue should be good enough for Fulham.

Pauli Soldado played well together but Pauli is still pretty knacked so controversially I'd bring in Lamela in the hole with sig in for Chadli.

I reckon 2-1 the mighty spurs Soldado double- he is overdue

I honestly think AVB has tried to manage the situation better but messed it up. Perhaps he'll look back and think he should have played Lamela off the back of that good performance. It makes much less sense to me that he would totally isolate him purposely.

First of a nice run of 6 winnable league games through to the new year. And an opportunity for AVB to show his critics by beating Fulham by 2 or 3 goals.

Good point.

Other than trying to protect Townsend, whose form has been plummeting badly, I can't understand why he did this (the City game).

----------------------------Lloris---------------------------

walker----------Dawson-------Chiriches-----Vertonghen

Lennon----------Sandro-------Dembele------Townsend

--------------------------Paulinho------------------------

--------------------------Soldado------------------------

I like that team.

I remember our performance away at Fulham last year, was 0-0 at half time, first half was pretty even.

In fact I remember a few in the OMT were thinking it was going to be one of those typical games where we lose and we went on to win 0-3 with Sandro scoring a belter from 30 yards and Defoe scoring two good goals thanks to good work from Dempsey and Sigurdsson. We have had a pretty good record at Craven Cottage in recent years after years of being **** there.

I hope we can see a repeat of the 3-0 win, would be good for confidence, would put some confidence back in our defence after conceding 8 goals in the last 2 games and also in the attack too after scoring 5 goals in 2 games. Just really hope Soldado can score, his confidence is shot, I mean you can tell against Man Utd, if he was in confident mood i have no doubts he'd have tucked away his chance in the first half.

I'm looking forward to this.
