OMT ***Tottenham Hotspur vs Emirates Marketing Project***

They have not even got out of first gear and we are being out played. Think its almost spot on.

Maybe we havn't let them get out of first gear.
And how are we being outplayed? 2 good front men, but they are desperate in defence when we get in amongst them. Clichy has had to clear well more than once, and you can see the exasperation in his face.

Christ, I'm usually the pessimist on here.

So many things wrong defensively with the goal it's unreal, but lets not dwell on that.

We started well, went to brick after the goal but have started to get back into it. Can still see us getting something.

I'm refraining from ranting about how brick Ade is or the fact we still have no width for now. COYS

I think i'd be tempted to sell Bale in the summer. We could get an absolute brick load of cash and re-invest it.

Normally you wouldn't want to sell your best players, but in this instance we have such a mish mash of players that it is literally impossible to identify our playing style / impose a clear style on our side.

A clear out of the Livermore's, Parker's, Ade's etc would do the world of good. We should be aiming to bring in a team of players the quality of Lloris, Dembele (when on form) and Vertonghen etc.

If we could clear some out, raise 90 million or so for a war chest then it could be exactly what we need.

We are just a half way house, falling between styles, no discernible philosophy, and I think it is largely down to have a patch work squad that doesn't make any sense what so ever.

I think this is one of our main problems. Either AVB has philosophy/style in mind and doesn't have the players. Or he doesn't really know exactly what he wants to do.
At least before we would play with wide players, and wide player substitutes. Sure teams knew that was going to happen, but it worked. Now players are played everywhere. Verts, Siggy, Holtby, Dempsey, Bale, Naughton.. if it's confusing for me..it must be confusing for them.

Twitter / SpursStatMan: Spurs have gained 15 points from losing positions this season; only Man Utd (27), Everton (22), Arsenal & Emirates Marketing Project (16) have gained more.

Twitter / OptaJoe: 65% - 36 of Tottenham's 55 league goals this season have come in the second half of their matches. Refreshed.

The last time ManC lost a game they scored first in was 16 months ago against Chelsea managed by AVB.

Nice post. Analysis not doom and gloom.

COYS!!!!

Thank you. It's what we need at the moment. Let's keep believing, eh? :)

Hudd coming on to give us 3 in the middle with Bale shifting out left could also work: might help us retain possession, and it was Hudd's set piece that led to Caulker's goal at the CoMS. We have options on the bench: not of City's caliber, obviously, but enough to change the tempo significantly if we want to.

hah

nah bale's pretty good. Just needs some space to work with. AVB needs to figure something out to get him in open areas.

pardon my rant.

Bale won't get space. City are a very defensive team and they'll block his space all day long. A half-arsed striker would be using that extra space created.

They seem to nullify Bale in the middle. Shove him wide left, Siggy off Thudd on, push Dempsey forward in the centre behind Ade. Get Defoe on for Ade after 10 minutes.
